Hi If anyone is getting quotes from Bishops Move,

We are being charged a fee at the moment by the company over here.

I am sure it was not mentioned in the talks we had with them. and thought I would see if I could get clarifciation.

You pay Bishops move to pack and ship your stuff out, that includes the shipment move and unpack this end. The only things that it does not include is the Customs Bill, MAF bill and inspection costs. (plus and additional storage).

I am going to talk to the movers tomorrow but thought I would get some back up on the way. As when I emailed Bishops with the question they said to take it up with NZ. Didn't keep all the brochures handy, so if anyone could clarify, if Bishops told them about the handling fee

Thanks all

Great day here today, spent it on the beach, hope that doesn't put off any helpers.

Jo I'm confused, a fee for what exactly did they say.

MAF, Customs clearance and storage won't be included in your quote. For some people it has been little or nothing. For others a huge sum.

I think your contract is with Bishops move, so don't let them fob you off. Don't pay anything until you get the clarification and then ask for an invoice. Also ask for the MAF, Customs fees and invoices here which your receiving agent here will have. That way you can check exactly what you are being charged for.

Hope this helps

As has been noted before it's worthwhile organising your own customs clearance and MAF inspections. We did this for our two containers (contents of two houses and two cars) and saved about $700NZ over what the Moving co here wanted to do it. Took about half a day.
