After nearly 6 weeks here my hubby has been offered a job! They want him to start asap so we're applying for a work permit to begin with. I'm still waiting on a job application and should hear next week - once i find out we'll then submit an EOI.

What a relief - the last few weeks have been horrendous - lots of interest from potential employers but nothing following through. We've been watching our savings dwindle as we had a lot of unexpected bills when we arrived. This is a fantastic Christmas present and for the first time since arriving here I can contemplate a future and get out of holiday mode (fun as it is, it only lasts as long as a visitor visa).

PS The work permit application appeared really simple, particularly as we're applying for <2yrs. Wondering if i missed the plot somewhere. do work permit applications usually go smoothly

Nice one that's really great news, now John can look as tired as I do every day!
