Hi all,
I would like to introduce myself: my name is Nienke, currently living in The Netherlands, but not for long anymore hopefully.
To our huge suprise, my husband got a call one evening two months ago from a headhunter from New Zealand, and a couple of telephone interviews later he was offered a job. And we had to think hard and fast (we've never been to New Zealand.....) and decided to take this opportunity! Our life has been completely in chaos ever since....
He will be starting his new job in Auckland mid-January, and me and our son will follow as soon as our house here is sold and our stuff shipped. We sincerely hope that selling the house won't take too long.
I am looking forward to my new life in New Zealand very much!

Hi Nienke and Sarah and Alex,

Welcome to the ENZ forum. You can definitely get all your questions answered here, and even more than that, great support for whatever you happen to be going through at any time.

I don't know if you've read my thread about our dog going missing, but even that prompted some fabulous support and really practical advice that we followed.....and found our dog!! So don't limit yourselves to asking about NZ!

If you like reading, there's a great thread called Reading Group, here in The Lounge, also one for recipes and cooking ideas. Just click on Search on the toolbar above.

You may know this already, but if anyone gives you great info, makes you laugh etc. by clicking on the little scales in the top right on their message, you can give them some reputation points. It's a nice way to thank people for their time and effort.

Where are you headed? We're hoping to go early 2006, already have PR, just need to sell the house......now if there really IS a Santa, he'll bring us some cash buyers!

Take care,

Gil

Gil, you need to sell your house as well? Good luck, hope you will get your christmas buyers!
We are going to live in Auckland, as that's where my husband's new job is. Where are you headed?

Nienke, Auckland is where we are headed too. Where are you planning to live? We are inclined towards Howick area at the moment. Well done to your husband on landing a job! What does he do?

We have absolutely no idea yet where in Auckland we would like to live! It's only been two months since we know we are going to New Zealand....
We got the book 'Where to live in Auckland' and I am reading it now. We would prefer a bit away from the city, but my husband needs to find out first where he will be working mostly.
He's a SAP consultant, so he will be working at various locations, depending where the clients are, which also means it doesn't really matter where we will be located.
One advantage of him going there before us is that he can go and check out the various neighbourhoods!
Howick area? I'll be looking that up in the book tonight :D
