I have just spoken to the CTF agency, regarding our emigration in the New Year. They have confirmed that my son can keep his CTF account and claim it when he is 18, even though he will no longer be a UK resident.
I was quite surprised, is this what everybody else has been told?

Hi Tia
To be honest, I'd just assumed that was the case anyway. I'm just about to set mine up and have been reading through the notes and it seems to imply that that money is for your child, who was born in the UK, regardless of where you move to (it'll probably be worth next to nothing in 18 years time anyway). It's a pity we don't get to keep the child benefit though, isn't it??

I agree - esp since some benefits are payable in NZ (like pensions etc) when it isnt means tested here - but it is in NZ! People on Disability can even claim it for 6 months out of the country (as long as they get it okay'd - or I s'pose if they dont even tell them!)
But dont get me started - I have an anger against Tax Credits!!!
