My first daughter is heavily involved in equestrian jumping and wants to be a horse trainer and rider trainer. We have our own horse (which we would have to ship down from the US) and I am wondering where the equestrian center of NZ is. We would need a trainer that can take her from where she is (she is already highly competitive) to as far as she can take herself (both as a competitor and as a trainer). Are there any links on the web that I can follow?

Try looking in the Camebridge area, as I know that they have a lot of stud farms and equestrian centers. Otherwise just type in Equestrian centers in New Zealand on your web search, I am sure that will give you a starting point to look.

Just a general suggestion but you might also contact any international equestrian organizations and see what they say. At the least you might be able to find out where the competitions or where the breeders are based.

As far as the North Island goes, I think Cambridge is a main centre for equestrian type pursuits. If you want to be nearer a city, I think places like Whitford and Clevedon near Auckland are also know for horse activities, but may be not to the same extent as Cambridge (which is also a lovely town by the way, and only half an hour rom Hamilton).

Hi My daughter is the same, and is not coming with us to start, as she wants to get to Burghley before she her partner and my granson join us, but she cant wait as the pricing of eventing is much more competitive in NZ than in the UK, it costs her a fortune, and she has 2 horses this yr, her old favorite and a youngster.
