Hi,
We have sold our house and are in the process of selecting a shipping company to use to get our stuff to Akl . We have a small house and probably won't need a whole container. We have had a quote from Anglo Pacific which includes packing and unpacking for 565 cubic feet for £2825.00 plus insurance.
We quite like the packing and unpacking option but I am not sure this is a good deal. We like the idea of buying things that we know we will need over here so I am sure the quote will only go up as things increase.
Has anybody used Anglo Pacific, are there cheaper companies out there that offer a similar service?
Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi
There is absolutely loads of companies offering similar sort of thing but for varying prices. It pays to get several quotes - and play them off against each other too. And you don't need to get your insurance thru them, you can go to other companies (such as A Letton Percival I think) which are much cheaper for similar cover. Do a search on removals companies and you should get loads of posts on it (those of us trusting our lifes possessions to shipping companies do tend to talk about it alot!!:laugh )
I'm sure others will be on who have used certain companies and give opinions good and bad!!

Further to Garry and Emma's post, I would also like to add mine as it is related query.
I have just had a quote from "Eagle Relocations Ltd" for £4,250 plus insurance @2.9% for pick up, transportation and delivery door to door to Auckland in a 40ft container (600 cu ft personal effects plus 2 x cars - BMW and Mini).
2 questions:
1) Has anybody used Eagle Relocations - if so, please let me know the pros and cons of using this company? i.e. are they good or not etc.
2) Is the quote reasonable based on other migrants experience?
Good luck Garry and Emma - when and where are you moving to? We hope to move in March 2006 :raebanana .

Hi there
We too are in the process of selecting shipping agents, hopefully will be on our way to Auckland end of feb 2006. We have been quoted £3680 for a 20 foot container from Atlantic Movers and £4655 from crown relocations, seems a massive difference for the same thing, has anyone else had dealings with either of these ???
I think the general opinion is obtain a few quotes, and go for which you feel is best for you, god luck!!

We got three quotes (when we thought our house sale was going through. They ranged from about £3000 for Curtiss, nearly £4000 for PSS and about £4500 for Crown. That was in September 2005. I can dig out the actual figures if anyone is interested.
Crown always quote the dearest but they are one of the biggest. One of the only firms which have offices in NZ so don't use sub contractors for the NZ end (which is a-whole-nother matter altogether). I've been reading some horror stories on another forum about some companies at the NZ end!! Having said that, £500 -£1500 is a lot of NZ $$!

Our 40fter was £4600 inc 2 motorbikes and a car with Curtiss. No I would not recommend them.
Had no choice about who they used here, NZVL.They use contractors (which were ok) but again the company is the pits, but according to them they are just a receiving agent and take no responsiblity for nuffink. So far we are into our 5th week with them holding up our insurance claim.
Letton Percival's insurance was 1.57% and so far they have been very good at sorting out the mess made by the above.
