Hi all

I know this question has probably been answered a hundred times before here on this forum, but I just wanted to get a 'personal' perspective on our situation...

Me and my Fiance have been living here in Wellington since August on a Talent visa that my accredited company sorted out for me before we left. We got all of the police checks done and had the medicals etc. Kim is on a 2 year working holiday visa until her registration comes through from he Midwifery council, after which she shouldn't have too much trouble getting full time work as a Midwife...

Now, we both love it here, and decided to apply for Residency, after reading bits and pieces here about the points going to go up took the plunge and submitted our EOI on 21st Dec.

Amazingly - We got selected ! Just before the points went up on the 22nd... Great Xmas news, we're both really over the moon... ! We can start to think about getting excited about this being a more permanent home for us now, in time for our wedding in September maybe get a loan for a sofa, or even a mortgage next year depending on what happens with the housing market... (ideally like to keep the flat in London for a while yet )

So I guess what I'm asking is - what happens next ?

How long before he ITA usually comes through, and what format does that take ?

Will we have to resubmit everything or will it all get passed over to the relevant depts from my Work Visa ? Do we have to have medicals and police checks done again etc...

How will it affect my current visa status if at all or Kim's ?

Hope this all makes sense - look forward to all advice / thoughts received !

I know I've read people on here say it's better to go for residency in the long run and not bother with other routes, but we're past that stage, so what's in store for us now ?

Thanks - I realise what a great position we are in and how fortunate we both are.

Geraint
