Bunnylodge, just outside Christchurch, has been mentioned a few times on the forum as a pet hotel, and I've always liked the look of the place. We placed Summer in their care for 12 days when we had family over in December and I am more than happy with their service. Very friendly, very reasonable, GREAT facilities (seems Summer took full advantage of the pool!!) and Summer came out with no added friends on board (fleas etc!!). I'd defintely use them again.
When we were dropping her off there were several Brit families there who were boarding their pets at Bunnylodge whilst in rented accommodation (most were cats) and they too agreed it was a great place.
Hope that helps someone. :)

"We are the South Islands biggest and most innovative animal holiday resort offering services and facilities found no where else in the country.
We have indoor and outdoor accommodation to cover all weather conditions, and for our canine guests acres of secure space to play around in. And for those that like water we are the only facility in New Zealand that has a dog swimming pond so make sure you pack their swimmies." <------:laugh :laugh :laugh

Thought I would add an Auckland one to the list

they were excellent, its more like a doggy creche than traditional kennels, our boy was happy there, and came out looking fabulous, they had done a great job grooming and bathing him (probably much to his disgust)!
the old dogs even get put into their own area, and get an afternoon nap to stop the little pups wearing them out!
some of the kennels we have seen here have been no more than barns, with partitions in to keep dogs separate.
