I was just researching the NZIS processing times and found out the actual number of staff that operates in the major processing centers
1) Auckland Central - It employs around 60 staff from a dozen nationalities processing visitor, work, student and residence applications.
2) Christchurch - The branch currently has a staff of 30. Teams operating within the branch specialise in Residence and Temporary entry applications. The branch also has a dedicated team processing applications under the Skilled Migrant category.
3) London - The branch employs approximately 40 staff who process all types of immigration applications at the rate of approximately 27,000 Residence and Temporary entry applications each year.
3) Washington - The Visa Unit at the New Zealand Embassy in Washington DC has only three staff members. :wah
4) Wellington - It maintains a roster of 30 Immigration Officers and at any given time, a number may be away on secondment or continuing training. :eek
5) Hamilton - Its 23 staff are kept increasingly busy processing both temporary and residents applications. :?
I guess NZIS should consider staffing more people in these high volume processing centers as with volumes increase with more EOI's selected and so will the processing times. No employer is going to hold a job vacant for a prospective immigrant for 9 - 10 months.
