My domestic partner and I have been told we will get either our residency visa, or work to residency visa within two weeks. We got in before the 12/5 deadline, so either should be valid for two years. We did have some questions that the forum can perhaps best answer:
Is it a requirement to fly on the same flight to NZ from America when going over so that our visas start exactly at the same time? It may not be possible to fly the same day since our schedules are mixed up.
What happens if we have to live in separate cities for a while because we can't find jobs in the same city?
How does that affect any meetings with immigration case officers while in NZ during those two years? ( The goal is to get Permanent Residency )
Then the last question really applies to everyone:
What if my partner meets Fabio on a film set and decides to break up? Since she's the principal applicant, where will that leave me as the "tag along" in my standing with immigration? (Everyone's relationship is subject to things like this, surely there have been examples in the past where two people split after a year or so?) :no
That's all for now, I appreciate any advice or experiences anyone could share.
