About to book up our holiday/reccy trip this week to come over for a couple of weeks in November time.
Favourite airline from research on here bearing in mind we will have a nearly 2 year old, seems to be Singapore Airlines with a transit hotel stop in Singapore.

Question is have most people booked these via the airline website or using online or real booking agent?
Price flying London to Christchurch for 2 adults and one child (own seat) is coming out about £1900 via Singaor airlines website and about the same through Expedia

Any suggestions to get this price down?

:cheers

Hi ,

I booked through the web site ,for both flights and the transit hotel ,it costs more to book it over the phone .

Sign up for Krisflyer card first ,again online ,as you get airmile points with it .

You can choose your seat and kids meals too .

Thanks Marie - have signed up - something for nothing is always good! Just in case people don;t know you do have to all sign up individually rather than just one person who is making the booking (inc children over 2!)

Thanks for all the other sites and links everyone :nice1

I always use cefax. no one in my experience has ever beat their flight prices. Last time I went to aus I payed £460 inc all taxes, with a stop over in japan this is obviously per person. I have never found anything on line to match ceefax prices. Good luck with it. :)

Hi, not been on forum for a while.

We booked Hubby's flight with Singapore Airlines in June (return) & October (one-way) with www.travelbag.co.uk. He would recommend Singapore Air to anyone. On Travelbag internet site it's worth juggling with the dates, if you can, as one day can be cheaper than the next. Hubby flew out on the 10pm flight & stopped at Singapore for 3 hours before transferring to the CHC flight. However not sure if you can book the stopover online, but you can ring them.

I came over in November with the children (Age 10 & 13), however we went with Quantas as we visited my sister in Bangkok for 10 days. We booked through Travelbag by phone. Still got a good deal though and they were very helpful. Check their website for phone number.

Hope this helps, good luck. Maybe we'll see you in November.

Kind regards
Karen

Arrrr I was looking on the Singapore airlines website not the airport website.

Wendy has a relation who works for travelbag, she couldn't do the flights any cheaper than Singapore airlines were offering.

Is it possible anywhere to book flights without paying in full up front? I was hoping to look at paying a deposit (25% etc?) and have the next 10mths to sort the balance out. Only because i want to get some flights booked and

a) get them best price in advance
b) Have a date confirmed and a goal/target to work towards (an incentive if like)

Looked online sites, but all seem to want full payment upon the booking, if thats the case then so be it (have to be a couple months), just wondered if anyone knew of somewhere.

We booked our flights by telephone with Singapore Airlines, that way they can tell you exactly what dates they have available on special offer, if we had waited another week, for the four of us it would have been 1800 pounds (sorry no pound sign) that was for three adults and one child, but bcause we wanted to come a week earlier as we had no place to live, it cost us 2100 pounds, one way. Would highly recommend Singapore airlines, also have a 14hr stop at one of the hotels, we had no jet lag. :nice1 :nice1
