Hi

We are off to Wellington for a weekend soon. Can anyone recommend any family and teenager friendly accommodation.

Any suggestions on where we should go, what is interesting and where are the best places to eat other than MacDonalds!

Thanks

This is 7 minutes walk from us Nicola. Right on the train line - two stops into Wellington city. Loads to do there.
The waterfront is excellent - loads and loads of good eating places there.
Tawa itself isn't the most touristy place but there IS a shop that sells Walkers Crisps! Also two pubs - both good for eating and a Thai restaurant which is good too.

15 mins drive from Pauatahanui Inlet where my school is.
Gorgeous walks around the inlet.
Good shopping in Porirua.
Half an hour drive from the Hutt. Hang dog is cool for teens - an indoor climbing wall type of thing.
Does anyone play golf? My teenager (boy 16) is always up for a game.

When are you here?
Would love to meet up for a coffee....

I remember when those pubs weren't there! Tawa become was not a wet area until recently...

Still cannot beleive how many churches there are in tawa!

Haven't stayed here but this one always looks nice and clean http://www.bellavistamotels.co.nz/index2.htm

Bus, car or walk into city along the Bay road. Passing the Parade cafe for brekkie, lunch or dinner, swimming pool, gym andf beach opposite that. Te Papa a bit further on. Mac's brewery, good for lunch or a drink. (I can do a tour of lunch places) Astoria Cafe on Lambton Quay is good.Kopi on Willis is brill for malaysian food. (see the restaurant thread on here for more)

Cable car up to the Botanical Gardens is a great little trip. Gardens are fab. Dom post ferry trip round the harbour or over to Eastbourne is nice. Karori sanctuary is peaceful and 5 mins from the city.

Big summer city free events on here at the moment vhttp://www.wellington.govt.nz/

Hope this helps.

D x (another one for coffee too)
