Hi everyone,

My boyfriend is expecting a job offer from an accredited employer by the end of the year. :hopeso

he plans to apply for a work visa under the work to residence policy (and i as a de facto partner) as we believe this is the easiest way enter new zealand. how long before such visas will be granted, are we talking months here?

upon settling in NZ, would there be a problem if we immediately apply for PR through EOI? or as a holder of a WTR permit, are we restricted to the 2-year work requirement prior to applying for residence?

would appreciate any feedback....

p.s. would anyone know how long the 100pts EOI pass mark will be valid? won't it just shoot up suddenly?

Hi

You can apply under the skilled migrant category once you have settled in NZ.

I think this path will be quicker rather than wait for the 2 year period.

I have the feeling that the selection point will remain at 100 points for sometime as there is a shortage of getting skilled migrants. I stand to be corrected.

regards

Abdul

Hi Abdul,

It seems you know a lot about work visas so I hope you can help me on this. Well, any advice from anyone who has "been there, done that" will be greatly appreciated.

I've been going over the requirements and application form for a work visa and it said I have to present evidence that I intend to stay in NZ for the same period of time as my partner (I'm applying for a de facto work visa). Any idea on what evidences I can present?

Also, if my boyfriend's job is a permanent one, and we actually intend to apply for residence once we get there, how do we answer the question: "This is the date I will be leaving New Zealand:" Of course, if its a permanent one, we have no intention of leaving the country in the next couple of years.

Anyone who can enlighten me on this....please do...

Thanks,
Chuchi
