May sound daft, but in NZ, I've heard a lot about queen size beds, I just know you knowledgable people will know, what are the bed size equivalents in NZ, is a Queen a double? A king still a king? Or is a UK king an NZ queen?! lol

Super King 180 x 200 cm
King 165 x 200 cm
Queen 150 x 200 cm
Double 135 x 190 cm
Single 90 x 190 cm

Thanks! Seems a king is a king, but a queen is in between :D

And I can confirm that linen for UK doubles does not fit NZ Queens!! Our brand new M&S linen is no good here as we have got too used to having the extra space of the Queen size bed that we bought when we arrived. And our superwarm, 13 tog goosedown double duvet sits on top of the bed like a layer of cream on a cake rather than coming over the edges!

lol ruthyroo, that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid, we have a kingsize bed here and that's what I'd like when we move too.

We have a UK superking size bed. I bought superking size sheets here in New Zealand and they are too big! I am, therefore, assuming that our bed is the equivalent of a kingsize bed here (although I haven't checked). I definitely know though that a queen size bed is bigger than a double. Sorry if I have confused this even more!

Maybe I should just bring my bed with me :D

LOL
My problem is I like everything to match - something that on the whole seems to get missed in kiwi bedrooms - I'm constantly nagging my mum to measure the windows so I can buy matching bedding & curtains to bring with us .
DH makes fitted bedrooms (or did till business went bottom up ) so was thinking of converting NZ to european style fitted bedrooms - I have my doubts though .

Oh Vic, you're a lady after my own heart!! Last time we went over to NZ, we visited the house we'll be moving to and I measured everything! I've already started shopping.
If your DH starts up again, send him my way!

I think a North American Queen is 60" (152.4cm) x 80" (203.2cm) which I would think is close enough to a NZ Queen. I was hoping to move my bed frame, but buy a new mattress in NZ as I need a new mattress anyways.
Can anyone confirm that NZ and North American bed sizes are the same?

I've just measured our mattress, bought here in Wellington 3 months ago and it is the same size ( 60x 80 ), sold as a queen to fit a queen sleighbed. :D
Hope this helps

Queen size definitely matches pretty closely, my sheets fit perfectly -- Bring your bed linens, a quick survey of the home stores here revealed an overabundance of low-thread-count poly/cotton sheets.
I suppose there are nice 100% cotton linens available somewhere, but not for the low, low price I like :)

Not advertising in any way, but as the NZ houses are notoriously cold and damp, I am bringing my double feather mattress pad bought from QVC. Not cheap, but OMG, so toasty, you don't want to get out of bed!! They are fantastic and I can't recommend them enough.
