Can anyone give me any help?

We have had an approval in principle in the form of a letter, but we haven't

sent our passports off yet because we are going to need them shortly. The

thing is i want to book our flights one way with singapore airlines. Do they

ask you to prove you have residence? and if so how?

Cheers

Hi Paul & Helen :)

we booked our one way ticket a couple of weeks ago with malaysian airlines (nearly used singapore but simon only visited last year & we wanted to stop off for a few days enroute) both companies had no problem in booking a one way ticket & said we would just be asked to prove residency at check in.

we fly out on the 21st Feb...when are you hoping to make the 'big move'?

hope this helps

Chantell & Simon :)

Hi Paul and Helen

Exactly as Chantell said!:clap We booked Air NZ. Just remember when you hit the ground in NZ you can get in the residents queue for immigration. :nice1

We're flying SIA on 27 Feb and they didn't even mention the fact that it was a one-way ticket! Don't worry - just get it booked - it's a really nice feeling!

JUst curious for the future (hopefully not too far off for us) are one way tickets any cheaper ? - have only seen return tickets advertised (£500-650 per adult) It could make a big difference to us as a family of 6 - 2 teenagers who are classed as adults ! (OUch I hear you say !)
Thanks, Tracey

Hi Tracey :)

ouch is right! hee hee!

We paid £400 for a one way ticket from Manchester to Auckland (including a stopover in Kuala Lumpar) with Malaysian Airlines

If we had got our act together sooner the price would have been £340 with either Malaysian or Singapore Airlines! but we is dumb ;)

Hope this helps & good luck with all your plans

Hello -

because we live in Germany we fly with Thai:Frankfurt/Singapore/Auckland one way and they weren't interested at all, if it's one way or whatever. We decided to have just one stop and the departure- and arriving times are really comfortable for us. The stop in Singapore takes only 4 hours.
I am VERY scared of flying, always - so these "side-effects" were very important for us.
It was not the cheapest offer, but cheaper than every return ticket. A friend of us flew with a holiday-offer (charterflight, I don't know if it's the same word?) to Bangkok and booked there the flight to Christchurch, but he had to wait two days and that seemed not very tempting to us ... but he paid just a fraction of what we pay.

P.S. Still in need to ask for excuse for all mistakes :roll.
Reading here is really a good english-exercise for me and from time to time I want to say something, too :o

Jsut to add that the only reference our agents made was to point out that it is the ticket holders responsibility to make sure that they have all the correct visas etc for travelling. Otherwise, they just wanted to sell the tickets.
