I now I'm worrying prematurely, as ours don't run out until March 2007, but how and when do I go about getting our RRV's renewed (Returning Residents Visa) and will my next one be valid for a longer period of time than this initial 2 yr one?
Cheers

When I got my visa last week the case officer told me not to let it expire and to re-apply before it does. He said they will look to see how much time you have spent in the country in the 2 years and if you spent more than 6 months each of the two years they will renew your visa "indefinitely".
Hopefully this is helpful.

Perfick... interesting to note that they renew based on your "commitment" to NZ - i.e house purchase, NZ tax payments, length of time in / out of country. It seems we have all bases covered and we'll have been in the country, without leaving, for almost 100% of the time covered by previous RRV! :nice1
Thanks for that.
Has anyone actually been through this process and had probs due to lack of house ownership, working from UK or difficulty proving commitment to NZ?

hello moorf and everybody,
greetings from the philippines! i know i havent been visiting emigratenz but it seems whenever i tried to open the site my computer refuses to run "activex controls", and because i don't know what it means, i just turn the thing off and read about nz somewhere else. but i missed reading quips from moorf, diny, babette, nicola, andy, jo b, heather, linda and alijax... who else? there are so many new ones!
just to let you know, ric and i sent off our ITA and documents, which were properly acknowledged and received in NZIS Shanghai. Again we're in the waiting phase for an interview schedule which will be in Bangkok. so wait, wait, wait again... in the meantime, i'll just read on and catch up on what's been happening to my UK NZ US and European and Asian friends in this forum.
BTW, jes (jesselyn: i need more patience) has her WTR already and will be flying to NZ soon. Beah is already there in Auckland I think. Cathy (cagcagb) also has her WTR and will be off to nz this month i think. They're some of the original forumers in emigratenz and have also been the prime movers in organizing the would-be-kiwis from the philippines into the pinoyz2nz group. we're a 500+-strong group and many of them have already left for nz. it all started with the philippine meet, and ended up being a support group for those with the NZ dream.
So, you might meet a filipino one of these days, and maybe soon it'll be me! :clap
cheers
