Hello everyone we are going !! we have booked the flights for 7th march to Auckland. The house hasnt gone yet but were going to let the family look after it and sell it for us . Things will be tight to start with but we just want to get there. Only problem will be we will have to rent a house rather than buy till ours in Uk has sold. Also i will have to have a banger for getting round in ,i can live with that. I,ve had quite a few employers ring me in the last week from NZ and its spurred me on to make the move. To anybody out there applying for residence i,d say get your house up for sale now if you havent already you dont want it holding you back when those blue stickers come. Just going to arrange furniture shipping now !! lots to do at last ive not worked for the last 10 weeks (the longest ive been lazy since i left school, cant wait to get to nz and get really busy again. Cheers 5 happy new kiwis :raebanana :laugh :nice1 :cheers

Well done you !!

It may turn out that renting when you get there is a better idea than buying straight away.

You never know where you may end up living and at least this way you're not commited to any one property or area.

I'm so pleased that everything is working out for you on the job front....good for you to know you're in demand - :nice1

Keep us nosey forumites informed on your progress, wont you.

I reckon your new plans are going to be more beneficial to you anyway.

When we got here, you are somewhat in a pressing situation to get a place to stay and buy a motor. This can lead you to buy things that after a few months turn out to be bought under pressure and not really what you want. We are in a lovely rental, expensive but nice, there are nicer and cheaper when you get familiar with your area, and we purchased a car that we now know we paid so much over the odds for. We wish we had waited and bought more wisely.

So see it as time to get your bearings when you get here, and then you can seek out the perfect area for your needs. And hopefully you will make healthier judgments on the purchase of a property when yours sells.

Good luck and enjoy the ride, its great!!!!

Well done guys,

i'd agree with Zardell - renting first is a good idea, it gives you time to look around and find what you really want and where you want to be, maybe to change job/area at a later date is something more attractive comes up. It keeps your options open and will only be short term.

good luck!

Good decision! We're hoping to exchange either tomorrow or Friday, but if it did go wrong, I think we'd go anyway. Sometimes you just get past the point of no return, don't you? I'm sure you won't regret it. You fly out the day after we arrive - there are going to be a lot of us arriving late Feb/early March.

Keep us posted with your plans. I really was devastated for you when you posted about your sale falling through, so all's well that ends well.

Well done Paul, i'm glad to hear you on a happier note. Its so stressful the whole damn process, but just go with the flow and see what is thrown your way. Just come on out and tread carefully thats all i will say.

Oh good on ya! I must admit it scared me to death when I read your post about your buyer pulling out at the last minute! That is my worst nightmare and I am still holding back a little faith just in case anything like that happens to us - we're due to complete on the 17th and we fly out on the 24th!

It must be a really nice feeling to be in demand with all those employers over there - you can pick and choose when you get there eh?

We will be doing the same as yourselves and renting for a good while until we get a better idea of where we want to settle permanently.

It does seem like February and March will be bumper months for forumites making the journey.

Good luck to all - hope it goes smoothly from here.
