hi peeps! my status changed yesterday afternoon from selected to guess what? "payment received"
I panicked and thought my application was declined.
but when i opened my eoi it says there "decision successful" :angel
i have 105 points.
my friends' status are still selected :wah but i'm hopeful that they too will have a status of "decision successful" anytime soon.
I really don't know how they pick out who they will process first because my friends and I have the same qualifications.

ANyway, hope to see you guys in nz.. can't wait to go there again!

Hi MB

My EOI has just a dash not a date when selected (selected 29th Sept) so I called NZIS and asked them to check my submission. We have had a letter confirming that we've been selected. They said - yes, you have been selected - so I'll just wait patiently for the next phase.

hi cathy

congrats!

when were you selected? you said cant wait to go there again... you've been to nz before? what field are you and your friends in? i assume you're single, coz you talk about going there with your friends... right?
have you submitted any documents or certificates regarding your claimed points?

sorry for the questions, i've been selected only yesterday (nov 10) and i am now reviewing all that i've learned in the forum. heehehe :laugh

good luck, see you there! (where in nz?)

hi annie,
thanks!
below are my answers to your interrogatory questions
1. Selected 15 sept
2. Went to NZ april 2003 (South island was amazing! :nice1 )
3. I work in a Bank (Employee Relations HRD)
4. Still single
5. Havent submitted any documents yet coz im still impatiently waiting for
my ITA; and
6. I will coerce my friends to stay in wellington coz i want to work for the government (hopefully by april 2005)

I wondered why I got chosen first. But somebody told me maybe it's because I am a lawyer (the possibility of settlement). But as added info to you I didnt claim any points for that coz I have to be recognised first and that process may take awhile or I may be declined recognition all together.
I stated in my EOI (The explanation part on the job qualification) that I am a member of the Phil Bar but will not be claiming any points.
This is the only logical reason I see coz between me and my friend, I think she is better qualified in her EOI of 105 points because she's an accountant.

Good luck in your EOI and to all of us who are seeking greener pastures, figuratively and literally! :exit

let's keep each other posted of any developments in our applications.

hi cathy

i did sound like an interrogator, didn't I? :? thanks for sharing your info!

There are more and more pinoys every day in this forum, which means more and more of us are wanting to migrate to nz! with due respect to the others in the forum, i think it's a marvelous idea to have a lot of "kababayans" there, so we won't feel too homesick.

Keep in touch!

I chased NZIS up AGAIN yesterday (it's my weekly phonecall!), and they said that it was all being processes as normal (whatever that means!), but it has recently been passed to Wellington - Hooray! It's done something!! He reckoned we should hear whether we'll be invited to apply by the end of December. I'm hoping it'll be before xmas... :hopeso

When I spoke to them a few weeks back they said it was taking about 3 months to process from the date of selection - I'm looking forward to the 15th December then to see if that's right!

chuchi
26th November 2004, 12:34 AM
hi jinkee,

if you look at the med forms, there's a part there which asks for details of immunizations (hepa, diphteria, tetanus, etc). they'll do a blood screening to see which vaccines you have already and if you lack these, they'll give you the shots. the clinic has to give a certification to NZIS that all vaccines were administered.

got three shots last week: tetanus, hepa booster 1 and MMR (not sure what this is). there's supposed to be another one -- the one for diphteria but the clinic ran out of the medicine. so they'll administer that one next month, along with hepa booster 2. hepa booster 3 will be given a month after hepa 2.

i think tetanus and diphteria vaccines are administered to us people from tropical countries. i think i read it somewhere. am i correct, dr. annie?

it's just a little sting. no worries. :nice1

jhsay
26th November 2004, 01:41 PM
Hi Cathy and Chuchi,
I'm done with hepa B (including the boosters) so I'm thinking of getting a cert. from my doctor.
By the way, did you go to Peralta Clinic for the medical?

Jinkee

chuchi
26th November 2004, 02:13 PM
Yes, I went to Peralta clinic (as this is the only accredited one in Manila, the rest are in Cebu).

You can bring a certificate but I'm not sure if the clinic will still conduct a blood screening test on you, to check if you have complete immunizations.

Good luck!

cagcagb
26th November 2004, 02:13 PM
hello jinkee,

yes it was the peralta clinic (the one and only certified clinic in manila but they have 3 in cebu! weird or does that mean there are more immigrants in Cebu?)

anyway, the reason i got so weak was because I had my shots during my lunch break and you could just imagine the heat!

the hepa shot will be administered only if after your blood test you are found negative of the anti-bodies. so if you already had one i suppose your results will be positive.

30th November 2004, 06:52 PM
hi cathy!

yes, those vaccines are actually pediatric, and at the same time because we have high incidences of hepatitis, measles, diphtheria, etc. So if you've had those shots, they will just give a certificate, and you don't have to have those shots anymore? MMR by the way is a combination vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella (german measles).

we have to have also the chest xray to prove we don't have TB. The philippines isnt on the list of countries with low to none incidence of tuberculosis, so that's another thing.

Peralta clinic, huh? where is this?

annie

chuchi
1st December 2004, 01:44 PM
hi dr annie,

peralta clinic is at the 13/F jaka building along ayala avenue. it's first come first served so better be early.

i don't know about the certificates. maybe you can bring them and just see what the doctors there will tell you.

good luck!

hi vincent,

thanks, bro! we are safe and sound - i just dunno what will happen when typhoon nanmadol arrives...

REAL, Philippines (AFP) - Terrified survivors were fleeing the northeastern Philippines as a new storm bore down on the area where floods and landslides have killed more than 400 people and left nearly 200 missing.

Typhoon Nanmadol was early Friday expected to slam into the east coast of the main island of Luzon. Entire villages were washed away by a storm earlier this week and three towns were cut off and suffered heavy damage.

The new typhoon is packing winds of 175 kilometers (108.5 miles) per hour over the Pacific Ocean and is already bringing driving rain and strong winds to the devastated region, the government weather center said.

to everyone

thanks for your concern regarding the floods that devastated many of the towns in the philippines. manila, the capital, has been spared, thank God, although the Marikina river rose and washed away some of the commercial stalls near its banks. The people who rented or owned these stalls were trying to sell Christmas goodies in time for the Christmas season, but the typhoon had other plans for them.

the supertyphoon we expected last friday (I was away from the computer since thursday, we had no classes for 2 days - how nice to be a teacher too) didn't do as much damage as the first one, although the texting brigade already was churning out text messages for prayers that we survive this supertyphoon which was bigger than the Philippines, so they said. Maybe the prayers worked, maybe a higher force was looking out for us, but the mountains that surround our country and invariably divide us into regions were the ones that met the 180kmph winds and broke them into little pieces.

we would also like to thank the countries led by the USA who sent aid to the philippines, may the Lord continue to bless you so that you can continue to aid the other nations that are less fortunate than you are.

congrats jesselyn!! decision successful! wow. suddenly i got butterflies. it won't be long before it's our turn... kaya?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the congrats messages. I believe all of us from the Sept 15 batch will get the ITA sooner rather than later as NZIS will want to clear as many of us before the X'mas holidays before they get another backlog from the other batches.

Cathy, as for my case officer from Bangkok calling me, she was actually checking on my date of graduation from Massey. Immediately after we spoke, I check the website, it changed to Decision Successful -pending and about half an hour later it again changed to Decision Successful.

Hi Mellisa,

Yes I did went to Massey from 1988 - 1991 majoring in Maths and Stats. It was perhaps the best time of my life and that is why I am bringing my family to settle there now. Moreover, I also met my wife at Massey there where she was doing her business studies.

You should have no problem adjusting to life in Palmy as people there are very friendly, the students there are very fun loving (and not so wild) and life is peaceful, not so stressful and beside Palmy has a very good environment to study. And the campus itself is beautiful.

See you there in about a years' time.

hello peeps.

a piece of advice. Payment thru credit card is cheaper than in draft. The draft costs US$890 plus US$9 for Bank fee while credit card is just 34,000 baht or US$869 or Php48,600.00 (more or less)

However, I experienced a glitch with NZIS because they entered the wrong expiry date! :( They called me up and gave me until this afternoon to fix it otherwise (Cant understand what she said but she actually threatened)....! I already emailed them the reason and I sure hope they will be able to make the necessary adjustment.

cathy (stressed! :eek )

Hi Annie,

As for your questions, attached are my replies.

No. We do not own any properties yet but intend to buy one when we are in Palmy. The most likely scenarios would be we would most likely be renting for a couple of months while on the lookout for the right house. Houses in Palmy area is one of the cheapest in NZ. The median price is about 180-190K.

As for bringing up kids, I think that is the main reason why we are leaving Singapore. Palmy is safe, quiet and beautiful and we like the peaceful life there. As for jobs, I belive there are not many around unless you are in the health line (nurses/doctors) or in the education line (researchers/ lecturers/tutors) which both me and my wife are. Palmerston is also known as the Knowledge City now but when I was there it was the City of Roses.

regards.
