I was looking at the Air NZ website just now and noticed that they are reducing the standard baggage allowance on flights from/through the US. It's currently 2 bags with a maximum weight of 70 lb per bag, but they are reducing the max weight to 50 lb. The change affects tickets purchased after 12 March 2006. For the full story:

Thanks for the info! We will try to purchase our April tickets before March 12 then if all goes according to plan.

That 'll mean we fly someone else the other way round over Asia from now on then... Not having to go through US Immigration again for no reason !

Hi G&K,
Yeah I know exactly what you mean. The only reason I would consider going through LAX again was due to the higher baggage allowance....now that this is gone then forget it.
Many thanks for the info as I would have missed that point.
Cheers

It's still more allowance than if you fly via Asia though with another airline, isn't it? If I fly via Asia I'm allowed 1 piece of luggage with a maximum of 20 kilo's (with f.i. KLM), if I fly via LA I'm allowed 2 pieces of luggage 23 kilo's each with Air NZ.

A little off thread here, but was there a problem with US immigration? :uhoh
I came through that way, never been to USA before, but no problems.
