Hi All
just interested to know your thoughts on the pros and cons of selling the house before the blue stickers are definite?!!
Our ITA was received early Dec so hopefully we should hear something by May, just wondering whether to put the house on the market early Spring as many folk seem to have difficulty selling and we can't afford the move to NZ without a house sale.
Is it just about whether we're gamblers or not?!!

Hi Jo
Put your house on the market and do it NOW!!! There are so many of us on here who have been delayed purely by not getting their house sold. The market is quite quiet, but even if you do sell straightaway, I'm sure it won't be long until you get your stickers, and you really don't want the hassle of being stuck with your house. You ring those estate agents today, do you hear!!??

Hi Jo,
I would def put the house on the market now,as the market is just so slow.
If need be and you are lucky enough to sell before May then may be u could go into rented until your flight to NZ.
We have had our house on a yr now,and actually have another estate agent coming around to take photos this afternoon,as the last agent had n't sent anyone around since the summer!
We are in the same position, need to sell the house!! any buyers out there!!??
Good luck

I couldn’t agree more.
Our house sold quickly and we ended up with no house for a while, it’s a better position to be in than waiting to sell a house.
Tips on selling your house (it worked for me, sold in 1 day!)
Get the estate agent round to value the house, take the average price, take of the estate agents fee, cut an old door in half, nail it onto a stick, then paint for sale on it, stick it in the garden.
If this fails I’d recommend going with the agent that has the shortest tie in period, they have too sell your house quick or they don'’ get paid!
Good luck with it I know it’s a pain!

Go on the market now for sure.
If you are lucky enough to sell quickly you can always stipulate that you need 4 or 6 weeks between exchange and compleation. This is what we are doing as OH doesn't want to hand in his notice untill the house is going through.
All the best with the houseselling

Have to say I agree with the rest. Sell now. I'd much rather go into rented for a while and know everything is sorted.
Good Luck

I totally agree with the others, sell the house now if you have the chance. Just as Kate said, there are a lot of us waiting around, seperated from spouses even, for their house to sell before they/we can move to NZ.

Totally completely agree - get it on RIGHT NOW! My hubby had his job offer this time last year and we have been stuck here waiting to sell the blooming house! We are finally completing on the 17th Feb and flying out on the 24th (fingers xxxxxxxxxxxxxx).
Much better to get sold up, get your money in the Bank and know that you can go as soon as you are ready.
Good luck - things do seem to have picked up recently though!

We've just got back from our reccy and I'm in the process of decluttering, ready to put ours up for sale hopefully in March!
Bear in mind that we haven't even submitted an EOI, still juggling for points at the moment - but we have made the decision we are going to New Zealand one way or another so the last thing we want is to be stuck with a house to sell. Everything will fall into place in its time but I think the house is one of the hardest things to get sorted - we can always camp with parents or find a property rent, better than been stuck here waiting for that elusive (sp) buyer.
Also we will try and do as Bob said and put up a private sign and maybe an ad in the paper - its worth a try to avoid paying high estate agent fees!
PS I will get round to our reccy update eventually!!

By the way - anyone want to buy a house? ;)
Yep - put it on now - we put it on as soon as our ITA was submitted - and it's STILL for sale!
