Because of our small pet dog, I am expecting some accomodation issues and logistical challenges.

e.g. once the dog arrives, I will have to make sure I have secured some appropriate albeit temporary accommodation.

If we and the dog go on the same flight then I will need to sort something out up front.

Another option is that one person goes earlier to sort accommodation.

Or ship the dog later?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

For those pet lovers out there - what was your master plan to solve this particular conundrum?

I know exactly how you are feeling - being a pet lover myself! We are aiming to fly out to NZ in October and have been wondering how and when to send our chocolate lab. I think that we aim to fly out first, find a place to rent and then my folks will send her to us in a month or so. Just gives us a chance to settle down, unpack our stuff and make it as homely as possible for her. Hopefully this way it will may the trip as smooth as possible for her - although it will be very strange for us without our 'baby' for a month! However she knows my folks well and they will be able to sort out everything she needs from this side. Do you have anyone that could look after your dog in the Uk while you settle in NZ?
