We've been so busy with the holidays and all kinds of preparing that spring (and our departure date) kind of snuck up on me. It's like that feeling when you are just about to reach the top of a rollor coaster -- you wanted to ride the ride, but what a feeling of butterflies in the stomach once you're about to drop! I think I am more excited and terrified now than ever. I want to go, but I keep thinling, O My God, did we really set all this in motion?!?!

Ok, I guess I'm just venting today. Will this get worse or better as the last two months go by? How was it for you?

:yes:no:yes

I like the roller coaster analogy. Several years ago OH and I took a trip around the world for 6 months, we had to do a lot of prep before that too- and I remember the feeling of teedering at the top of a mountain, deciding whether or not to go, then bam, the decision is made and you are slipping down faster and faster (it gets to the point where so much is in motion that it is easier to go than not to go), not knowing what you will find at the bottom. Strangely enough, our first stop on that trip was New Zealand!

It is quite the ride and it will mostly likely get a lot wilder over the next few months. At least for us things kept compounding up until the end so that it was actually a relief once we got on the plane. Once we arrived it was really just a blur for a while and it takes a few months before you start to get any sort of routine and begin feeling at home.

Good luck with the move!

I felt like a bunny in headlights for the last 7 days but the last two days especially. Our stuff had been packed and left our house, we had 2 chairs and a laptop.

Part of our contract for the rental was that we had to have our house professionally cleaned and we spent a day doing rock all and going round the twist in the garden. We didnt have any transport and lived in a village so we walked around a lot. My OH had reached saturation point by now and climbed up on our mattress (which was on the skip) and fell asleep in the sun. ( yuk!)

Our final day was one of mixed emotions, saying goodbye and sitting in the airport lounge thinking what have we done/can't wait to get on the plane.

I think this is a normal reaction, so much to do, been so long planning, you are bound to have butterflies and the roller coaster feeling.

If you want to vent, we are all here waiting..............................

I think that's a normal way to feel. We fly 3 weeks today, and I still feel like it's ages to go and just can't seem to get bothered by it at all - I'm sure I'm storing something up for myself once we actually get on the plane! We've got the packers coming in next Wednesday so we're in the middle of packing up, but I'm just finding it vaguely irritating not being able to find anything!!

Don't worry - it's a massive thing you're doing. Just try and enjoy the next couple of months!

We know how you feel , its took ages to get this far and now its here we cant believe it . We have gb liners in on 2nd and 3rd march and were panicking already. Also been sorting out gas electric rates etc, nightmare!!! booked flights booked hotel for temp stay now got to sort through 15 years of saved rubbish feels like it would have been a lot easier to stay at moment but theres no going back now. Just hope the butterflies dont last much longer. good job i,m already bald . Or i,d have been pulling my hair out!!

Feel the fear and do it anyway ?

Hot and Cold every day - am I in to deep?

Waiting for medical results, and my new boss wants me there tomorrow.

I will go over there and do a work visa locally in Wellington, then consider PR etc after that.

Still, lots of lead-in times for removers, car disposal, logistics, and shipping our best friend (the dog) - never mind think about accomodation when we get there.

Lot's of other complicating factors.

The next few weeks are going to be tough!
