Well, the packers were in today. They'll be back tomorrow and we move out in the afternoon. We're in Blighty for another 10 days after that but in a holiday cottage with no internet access, so that's it for me with this site in UK! I'll be back once I get there to bore you with the details of our journey and how we're feeling.

It's been pretty chaotic today - still doesn't feel real - this is our last night in this house!!

Anyway, thanks to everyone for all the advice - you've all made the whole thing so much easier. Good luck to everyone whatever stage you're at and especially good luck to all of you who are departing at a similar time. For everyone else, keep the faith - it'll be your turn soon!!

Kate x

PS Anyone know how to change your email address on here. Went into User CP, but it wouldn't allow my changes! Thanks.

Good luck guys ,It's a crazy ,strange time to go through ,take each day at a time .

Once you get on that plane ,the sense of relief is fantastic,as for a day you have nothing major to worry or think about .

I mailed Douglas and he changed my e mail address.

Best wishes to you and your family Kate .

It's under edit profile, edit email and password. Voila!

All the best for the next few weeks, it will fly by and before you know it you'll be kissing the airport runway in Christchurch.

Big hugs and look forward to reading your new life posts.

Thanks, Deborah, but it isn't working for me (ie changing email address). Think I'm having a dumb brunette (with blonde streaks) moment. I'll email Douglas as Marie suggested.

PS actually able to access internet till tomorrow lunchtime but doubt somehow I'll get time in the morning (having my hair done, don't you know. Isn't that what you're meant to do when you're about to move out of your home!?)

PPS Moorf - would love a night out in Chch!!

Hi Kate we are in the same boat - shippers in today and loading the container tomorrow so this is our last night in our home too. Very exciting and scary at the same time ... also a bit like camping, hubby and I are sleeping on mattresses on the floor in our sleeping bags ahhh nothing like roughing it eh?

We're in a holiday cottage until next Friday when we fly off to Auckland. Am looking forward to it but also not looking forward to the final good byes with family and friends. We're trying to pack as many hugs into the last few days as is humanly possible.

Hope you enjoy this time - we're trying to and wish you all the best for your new lives. Keep in touch as much as you can - I will.

Good luck Allison and Family and Kate and Family

Hope your packing goes as smoothly as ours did (Yayy, PSS!! :nice1 ), and look forward to hearing how the flights and settling on the other side goes. It's an amazing time and, if you're like me, this is where the serious wobbles have set in. I don't know how many times over the past three weeks or so I've thought 'what the heck are we doing?' - but I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run.

Moorf, when's the Chch meet up? We're planning a weekend in Chch the last weekend of March and would love to meet some of you.

Just using a friend's computer for half an hour or so - it's awful having no email and internet - it's like having my right arm cut off!

Anyway, Bishop's Move couldn't fit all our stuff on - they reckon we're 250 cubic feet over and want to charge us £800 for the pleasure of shipping the extra! They've now said that if we ditch all our mattresses and one of the beds, we might get it in. We've told them to do that - they're packing it at their warehouse in Leeds tomorrow for shipping at the end of the week so fingers crossed. It's really annoying though - they also packed things which we were wanting to take in our suitcases - they were pretty dense, I must say.

Just a word of warning to anyone who's having shipping quotes - you don't want to get stung....

Anyway, I'll check in again when I get a chance.

Hi Kate

This seems to be happening a bit on here, how can they get it so wrong?

Big hugs for the rest of your time left, maybe your right arm could come in handy for this instead?:cheers:cheers

Kate, good luck, shame you are not coming to Auckland, but never mind!

the email thing may have to wait until you get here and get an ISP, as you need a "permanent" one not a hotmail, yahoo or gmail.

Hmm shippers eh? I count myself very lucky to have had a good crew either end, and a quick boat! Sure it will be fine in the end, and a couple of mattresses and a bed wont set you back as much as £800 here anyways, unless you want top of the range stuff!

Well, the stuff was being packed onto the container this morning and we ended up really falling out with them. They were asking us to leave our lawn mower and all garden tools etc - this could get really expensive. They said they only get 3 hours to pack - what happens after 3 hours? Do they throw it into the sea??? We're waiting for a call back, but they're still saying that any excess will be shipped at our own expense - it's like talking to a robot!!

I really would NOT recommend Bishop's Move - OK, do you all hear that??

Thanks for your kind words - only four days left in Blighty - yippee!!!
