Two questions people may be able to help me with (I'd never be able to get to NZ without this forum - I'm playing a game called "how many NZIS windows can I open at one time whilst not actually achieving anything!... :nice1 )
Is my wife's NNEB worth points on the EoI...someone posted last year but there were no replies....anyone know?
also...
How definite does a job offer have to be, to be used in my points tally? I am a physics teacher and so slightly "rare"! (A dying breed according to one english nespaper headline). I have an "invitation" to one school, as a job "should" come up in Jan 07, but this is far from a definite offer with start date etc.
On the EoI, I do not have to fill in details but I would hate to get to the next round only to find that they expect hard and fast letters of offer.
If anyone can offer advice I would be extremely grateful and destressed!

First of all - what does NNEB mean?
Secondly (disclaimer - Unless things have changed in the last 12 months) a job offer has to be :
a/ In writing on letterheaded paper
b/ contain a job description and title
c/ needs to have details of pay
d/ needs to have a start date
Im really sorry that its not better news, but they really will check that a job offer IS a job offer. ALTHOUGH - because this is in teaching - you MAY find things are slightly different. Here is where I would be knocking down the door at NZIS. I understood at the time we came through the system - that some schools can literally "sponsor you". Id advise looking into this and seeing if your invitation can be used to support your application.
May be worth a visit to NZIS - and remember - any good news - get in writing - just so they cant deny it afterwards.

My suggestion would be that if a job is expected to come up in Jan 07, wait until then, apply for the job and get it (hopefully), then your application will be rushed through as soon as you have a solid offer. If this is at a university, there's a good chance they will pay your removal costs and also airfare for you and family (I know that Canterbury does). I guess the question is, will you go there if you don't have a job offer? If not, you might wait until you get a job to apply for PR, only reason not to would be if you are close on the age cut off, or if your type of occupation won't take you seriously without PR.

Thanks for replying guys - NNEB is a nursery nurse qualification - no longer available in the UK - replaced by a diploma.
I won't use the job offer route - I don't have anywhere close to those definite details
I'm not university level - secondary school. I've had two job "offers" so far saying that if I were there in person they'd give me the job - no problem, but....I guess "a bird in the hand is worth two in the UK waiting for PR, NZQRA etc"
So yes we will be coming over around Sept/Oct if I can make it past EoI (better had - I resigned from my job here a few weeks back!). Then I'll be in a better position to get a job!
Scary: 4 months plus with no pay....
