Hello fellow kiwis to be.

Hi, i;ve been away for a long time, i was busy with another forum that was started for filipinos wanting to migrate to nz. i was one of the originals, and we have a lot of members.

anyway, for those who remember me, we're now in the interview stage... our schedule is on mar 8 in bangkok. we were selected nov 10, 2004, decision successful july 28, 2005, ITA and meds lodged nov 25 2005, and now interview sched mar 8 2006! a few more steps to new zealand!

it took a while, unlike some of you who probably had only a few weeks in between ita and interview and visa... but, at least we're still in the running! hopefully i can soon get to see the friends i've made here in emigratenz, and hope those of you who are still waiting to get their visas would just hang in there and hope for the best!

cheers and all the best for this new year...

Nice to hear how you are doing!

Are you have an interview in person? That is the first time I've heard of one, though the ITA states clearly that they will do a face to face interview. Interesting...

hi tigerlily

yes, all of us from the philippines have to go to bangkok to do an interview with our assigned visa officers. i think one of the main objectives for a face to face interview is to gauge our working knowledge of the english language since this is not our first language, and to assess whether we've done enough homework and research on new zealand. they ask us how we are going to settle in nz, what job prospects will we have there, what if we don't get a job similar to the ones we're leaving behind, why choose nz to live in, what do we know about the place. that sort of thing...

thanks for your greetings, hope we do well too. it's a kind of wedding anniversary present (feb 28) to be travelling to thailand. haven't been there!

cheers

hi diny

yes, i've been so long away from the forum, i missed a lot of interesting threads. how are you? whereabouts in nz are you settled?

will keep in touch regarding our bangkok trip. i've been told it's a very interesting city, and there are a lot to see there... especially the patpong area. anyone been to bangkok recently would know what it is, so share your experiences!

cheers

hi moorf

thanks for the greetings! jesselyn has been given a WTR visa, she is still in the philippines but i think she's ready to fly to nz within the next few days. she hasn't been online much, i can imagine she's flying around with all the last minute tasks...

beah is already in auckland. jinkee is still here but already has a wtr too. there's so many who left for nz since last year, there was a time i was getting paranoid about our status coz there were people who were selected later than us but were already getting interview schedules, while we didn't receive our ITA yet. it was almost a year from the time of selection to ITA.

but that's okay, at least we're flying to bangkok soon. we hope before the year ends we'll be in nz. Are you still in sumner? (if not, that means i've been away that long. sheepish grin)

cheers

Hi buyio,

yeah, i see you just joined this year. but don't worry, it's a fun forum, and a great help during the migration process. the people here are really, really kind and helpful, and even if we haven't met face to face, we feel like we've known each other for a long time.

i've been posting on this forum during those eight months we've been waiting for the ITA. i don't know why it took a long time, probably because our eoi was assigned to shanghai china. when i opened our nzis personal homepage on the website last july, i was just feeling despondent coz i was expecting the same status "selected". Imagine my surprise when i saw the words "decision successful"! i was in the university library then and i quickly dialled my husbands local extension at the registrar's office to squeak out the good news! the ita and materials came a few days later, and we saw the return address, "shanghai". we had till november 28 to lodge our ita and medicals. gosh, it was a whirlwind of activities, imagine i had to get my 5 kids out of school to have our medicals done, 2 of them along with husband and me had to repeat some tests coz we were "above the normal level for BMI" - in other words, kind of large size, so we had to have blood glucose, cholesterol, etc repeated. good thing everything came out normal in the end. we had o ur documents ready since we were selected, so we only had to worry about the police clearance and medicals before we lodged the ita. everything reached china by nov 25, and so this feb we were given a schedule for interview with the visa officer.

this migration thing is really to try your patience, because you can be kept waiting a long time, but also it's to test your ability to think quickly, and your agility to fulfill all requirements, because usually when they finally give you the green light it's like moving along the expressway, everything goes so FAST!

hope you get your ita soon... while you're waiting, just get everything you need together already so you don't feel the nerves and tension...hahah

keep on reading here, you'll learn a lot of things. and have a good laugh,
where are you from?

cheers
