Hi,
I have just a few questions i would be really grateful if somebody could help me out.
I have just been offered a job in Auckland with an engineering firm, for 2 years. They are an NZIS accreditted company and i am going over on the Skilled Migrant Work to Resident Visa (I think). I will be going over there by myself. I have my medical and x-rays this week and am hoping to travel at the end of march (the visa will be fast-tracked i am told as they are accredited)

1. I have been offered a salary of $54k with $9k relocation over 2 years. Will this be enough to support myself in Auckland. I am trying my hardest not to compare it to GBP.

2. I have previous commitments in the UK (student loans and the like) that are skinning me for £400 a month so i will need to be sending that much home each month. What is the best way to do that, Money transfers etc. and will that put too much of a dent into my bootm line?

3. How much, realisticly will i be needing in the first couple of months, i am looking at sharing ahouse with a few people, li,ke a house share, trying to get a banger car and trying to see a bit of the place.

4. I am trying my hardest to save up but i reckon i will have on the day about £3000 GBP, will that be enough.

cheers for any pointers

Hi Funkster

I'm in wellington, not in engineering, so really haven't a clue as to whether this is a good wage or not :o but I just wanted to say welcome to the forum.

Have you checked Trademe www.tradem.co.nz (http://www.tradem.co.nz) for flatshare/rental prices and www.seek.co.nz (http://www.seek.co.nz) to see if this is a comparable wage?
