Anyone knows something about accountants life in NZ? I mean by that what are job offers, qualifications required and others. I am chartered accountant in my country, but is there any chance to get a senior position job in NZ?
Any registration needed perhaps? Thanks... :yes

I think there is some registration needed for chartered accountants. Where are you from Buyio? Would you know if NZIS recognizes chartered accountants from all countries or are there only specific countries that they recognize? Dropped an email to NZIS but still haven't gotten a reply.

Hi Buyio,
I would think if you are a qualified chartered accountant, this qualification comes from the respective overseas branch of the UK Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) or the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) - both should have NZ affiliates.
I am an ICSA graduate (another UK chartered body) which has an NZ affiliate, and as long as you are a member in your own country you should be able to join their association (whether you can transfer membership, I'm not sure).
I'm pretty sure you do not need to be registered with the NZ body to practice - although it can't hurt. Most higher accounting jobs I've seen advertised want a CA qualified - so you should be OK.
Hope this helps.

I am only member of the Chartered Accountants body from my country, which is Romania. I am also ACCA student, but not graduated one, just joined ACCA :o
I have contacted ICANZ and they told me that I have to give some equivalents for my qualifications, I think law and taxation. But I am not sure if in NZ you can get hired without being registered as a qualification somewhere. Have been reading on this forum that for electricians, f.e., you must be registered in order to get a job. Not sure my understanding is correct... :laugh
