Having completed my move I thought I’d share my experience on how the shipping went.
We used GB liners. (NZ van liners this end)
We took only what they said would be no problem (dumped some garden tools, wicker baskets and so on). GB liners did the packing.
Free storage in the UK.
The stuff got here before I was ready to have it delivered. (by around 2 weeks). I paid around $200 to retain the shipping crate, no charge to store it in NZ, no charge for extending the insurance time period.
No MAF fees
On the delivery date, a wagon pulled up and put the container on the ground, an hour went by, then a van and three guys turned up and unpacked the furniture. They took the packing stuff away. I unpacked the boxes myself (because I wanted to, they would have done it). They are coming back to collect the boxes when I phone them. A quick phone call and the shipping container was collected, within an hour.
Nothing broken (which I think is astonishing, the contents of a 3 bed house halfway around the world without a scratch!).
Well that’s how it went for us, hope yours goes as smoothly too. :)
