Having completed my move I thought I’d share my experience on how the shipping went.

We used GB liners. (NZ van liners this end)
We took only what they said would be no problem (dumped some garden tools, wicker baskets and so on). GB liners did the packing.
Free storage in the UK.
The stuff got here before I was ready to have it delivered. (by around 2 weeks). I paid around $200 to retain the shipping crate, no charge to store it in NZ, no charge for extending the insurance time period.
No MAF fees

On the delivery date, a wagon pulled up and put the container on the ground, an hour went by, then a van and three guys turned up and unpacked the furniture. They took the packing stuff away. I unpacked the boxes myself (because I wanted to, they would have done it). They are coming back to collect the boxes when I phone them. A quick phone call and the shipping container was collected, within an hour.

Nothing broken (which I think is astonishing, the contents of a 3 bed house halfway around the world without a scratch!).

Well that’s how it went for us, hope yours goes as smoothly too. :)

Great stuff, that could be classed as a recommentation then?!
If you don't mind sharing the information how much did they charge?

Lucky you. My container has been packed for over a month now and still has not left the US....though it is having a nice tour of the states as it has gone from Utah to Texas to California. Glad to hear someone has had a positive experience!

Hi Marcia

I think it was £3,141 using a refa container (I think I have the cost right, but will check it with wifey, she took care of that end).

Bob -

Well - I take my hat off to you - cos you are the first person (ive seen) to say they have had a good deal from NZ Van lines - which just goes to show that even the devil has a bad day now and then :laugh

Im glad it went well for you :clap

Hi Avalon, I know what you mean.

I was getting quite worried after reading some of the threads about NZ van lines (before our furniture was delivered).

Maybe some of the branches aren’t as good as the others, the branch that delivered our stuff was Palmerston North.
