My partner looks as though he is about to be offered a job in NZ. When/if it happens then we will start very seriously looking at making the move. We love where we live, we have a very small smallholding here and breed chooks so there is a chance that avain flu may stop all plans as no one will want to view a property that has chickens on it. However, we are also looking at selling the land for development (I hate people like me) to try and give us a better chance once we are out there (so we could maybe buy a business in the long run), so that would maybe bypass the problem, the money being offered is about the same as we are on here so we know exactly what to expect with living expenses etc. There is however a spanner in the works (isn't there always?)My partners brother wants to move with us under a seperate application, he used to run his own business with a partner, they were due a big tax bill and the partner had taken the tax money fund for BOTH of them, and spent it without telling anyone and therefore taxman couldn't be paid, my partners brother decided to walk and simply left and never found out what happened with the tax that was left unpaid but does know that the partner is still running his own business, this was about 5/6 years ago, in the meantime my partners brother has been getting by without taxman knowing about him, he is already ready to put in his EOI that as you all know requires his NI number is he going to get caught out? All he wants is the chance to start again but he is not surprisingly very worred about it, does anyone know what the implications are for him?
