Hi
My family and I are just starting to try and move to NZ. Been doing research but where to start!
Has anyone used any of the companies that do the leg work to get an application through - pros, cons help! Any good/ bad experience with particular companies?
or are we better DIY the application
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks
J

I contacted a firm online called Global Visas. They responded within a week. Unfortunately they were unable to help me quote ' without a reasonable chance of success'. I found this quite refreshing since I'd already been told that most agents were rip-offs.
Here's the Web address if you want to give it a go.

actually i dunno which is better; however my friend who has been in auckland for 2 yrs now made me promise not to get a consultant coz according to her DIY is much cheaper... :yes im still gonna attend a seminar about NZ tho on sept 4 - i need all the infos i can get... :D

ive been studying the selection point and now that its down to 110, im so eager to submit my EOI (i got 105). :cool but when i think about how long the selected EOIs have to be verified before they get invited umm i get impatient :? :angel

so ive come to the conclusion that its better to go to NZ via work visa. :hopeso umm i really want to move before the year ends (sigh)

Thanks for the info.
I'll have to start reading all the small print and see if I feel up to the DIY approach. How difficult has it been for others?

Have heard that visa agencies are abit unnecessary - there's nothing you can't really do yourself. I understand that some of them claim to be able to 'fast track' your application. I would imagine this is totally untrue. However, all this is hearsay as I have no direct experience with an agency myself. Good luck with whichever way you decide.

Hello Tass
We looked into using an agency when we started researching the options last Xmas. I sent £7.95 off to a company that shall remain nameless. In return I got a photocopied book about NZ education and a whole load of hard sell trying to convince me that I should use this agency.

At the end of the day, it is up to you. If you have lots of money and/or not much time then use an agency. Touch wood, we have managed to work out what to do so far without using one. It has saved us a small fortune and we have been (more) in control of our futures.

Good luck whatever you choose to do.
Mike

umm it happened to you too, huh? :(

me and my officemate went to this agency so that they can assess if we qualify for the 100pts. the pre-assessment cost us php 500.00 (im from the philippines). they gave us this folder which contains a photocopy about living in NZ (which i saw in the immigration website - jeez!) and info about their success rate... the bad thing is, i found out we can assess the points ourselves and we didnt have to pay :wah

i dunno if i remember correctly umm i think it will cost us about php 150,000.00 :eek if we avail of their services... they said the processing will take less than a year.

last year, I called one of the NZ embassy here in US. I asked the officer if I can use some kind of agency, and I believe he said "You can do it yourself" but again, I forgot what he excatly said...but pretty much the idea is not using some agencies.

i already told myself that going to NZ via a work visa is quicker... i really believe that however staying here in the forum for hours and reading all the stuff umm im having second thoughts :(.

our client's sibling is helping us (me and my officemates) :nice1. at this moment, we are waiting for the job application :clap. after receiving and answering tho, we have to post it back to NZ so they can decide what will be our next move - actually it could result to a work permit or they could tell us to still submit an EOI...

umm i dont like waiting and doing nothing :wah im getting impatient :no i told my nephew i will bring them to NZ; he really wants to play in the snow...
