I know it's not very healthy but I really do not like the local chinese takeaways at all.

My old chippy in Wigan has apparantly closed since we left (only kidding) but their chow mein was to die for.
So I am going to make my own Chinese, so does anyone know where I can get monosodium glutamate from or accent seasoning as I have heard it called, anywhere near the palmy area.

Scary stuff that Jo!! Would offer to bring some over from the Chinese hypermarket in Liverpool but imagine customs raising some eyebrows when they spotted a large bag of white powder! :laugh

Should imagine there is a large enough Chinese contingent in NZ to warrant getting it somewhere.

Hey debs,

yes I got said MSg, so thanks for that. Also got a really good curry sauce not too unlike Makeway curry, if anyone remembers that. The curry is in block form, it'sa actually Japanese, Golden something?? blummin' luverly.
