Hello All!

We've been reading lots of posts over the past couple of weeks and found it all helpful, exciting and terrifying at the same time!! Time to introduce ourselves I feel and really get a part of this!

We are a family of 5 from Somerset who are emigrating to Christchurch in late July/early August, and visiting for two weeks without our children in June to try to set up jobs, schools etc and generally suss out the area!

We are Daniel who is 10, Emily who is 9 and Marie who is 4. Brett works in IT - network management and I (Debbie) am a complementary therapist (reflexologist, Reiki, Energy Therapist - EFT/TAT). We also have two cats Charlie and Winnie, both 11!

We are very outdoor people, spending a lot of time walking and enjoying our local area. We enjoy a wide variety of sports including orienteering, surfing, skiing, cricket to name but a few!

We are trying to decide on movers and what to move at the moment! We had narrowed it down to GB Liners, who use VanLines at this end, but having read several posts about this on here we are now having second thoughts!

The other constant yo-yo is what to take!! Yes we'll take as much as we can (apart from rubbish - isn;t it amazing how much you stash away! :laugh ), no we'll get rid of that and that as it's not that good and we might as well replace it, yes we will take that even if we replace it later as it'll be great to have there and then when we unpack!!

Well, think that's enough waffling about us! Any comments would be most helpful and we look forward to getting to know you all!

Debbie

Welcome to the forum.

There are lots of folks down Christchurch way and loads heading there too.

It is all a bit of a yo yo, I remember that feeling well. You have to be really ruthless. I guess it depends on what size of container you are planning on.

If it's a 20fter, check the shippers estimate carefully if they are close to the limit. If it is a 40fter, you can just bung it all in and have room for the leaving party too.

Good luck!

Deborah

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Now, not wanting to put the cat amongst the pigeons, but I have heard that 'car boot' type sales are very popular in NZ and our 'rubbish' is sought after and maybe worth a lot more than we think.........just a thought.

Can anyone clarify ??

Julie
