The way I understand it is that Ocean Beach is sadly up for development!

A huge amount of surrounding ocean beach land is owned by the mauri and thankfully won’ t be released for development. However some land is available (and several HA have been bought). The locals are really mad because lots of local tax appears to have been spent investigating the possibility.

You’ve seen it,so you know how breathtaking the place is, I guess it was only a matter of time eh.

I’ve been told that this is down to a single farmer (with a huge amount of land) selling up (can’t blame him I guess).

I too am waiting to see the outcome, my feeling is it wont be as bas as the media paint it,

Thank you for that. I did see Sal's link and there was a little piece on Close up (I think) in the week.

What a shame. I can't blame the farmer but I do hope that 'they' are sympathetic with the development.

We shall have to come back before it changes out of all proportion. :(
