Hi, i am hopefully going to be getting my visa back in a couple of weeks, so i can book my flight fot he end of March.
I am going on a Work to Residence so i would imagine the trip would be one way, at least definatelyt for the first couple of years
What is the best way to get myself, a big case, a hand luggage and a rucksack over to Auckland?

I am really confused with the baggage limits, ive heard if you go via LAX it is more allowance but that is changing in a couple of weeks, and i have heard if you fax your visa to Singapore Air they up you limits as well. Although i havent been able to find any hard facts regarding these, any over naggage payments will really screw up my savings when i get there.

any help would be appreciated

cheers

Hi,

ANZ via LAX - if you book and pay for your flights before the 12th March you can take 2 suitcases weighing no more than 32kgs each.

Not sure about Singapore Air - may be worth ringing them to find out, however I know that the allowance is much less than ANZ.

As far as I know you don't need your visa to book flights (well we didn't need to show proof when we booked) so if you wanted the extra allowance you could book now!

Hope this helps?

when I booked our CP flights I got them for £785 all included, but after Travelbag came back to me after I had sent them a copy of our visas...which is what you used to be able to do to boost your allowance up by another 20kg making it 40kg and gave me the direct number to ring Cathay up and see if we could do it direct..CP told me that they had changed the rules in Oct 05 so that if you wanted migrant baggage allowance you needed to state it before booking and pay for a migrant ticket...and that we werent entitled as we had bought discounted tickets(no mention of this on their website when looking at prices and theres were only a fiver dearer)
I enquired about the price for the tickets and was quoted £650 each...that worked out at £350 for 20kg so I said ever so politely that I would stick with the tickets I have!

so Yes, you can get it , but ask first .....and hope that your arms and back can stand the strain of carrying it all
