Has anybody stayed at a transit hotel in Dubai? Indeed - is there a transit hotel in Dubai?
I'm going home for a trip in April and I've got 9 hours at Dubai - would love to get my head down for a couple of hours and have a shower.
Any info would be much appreciated.

They had rooms and showers in the Emirates business lounge and I think you can pay a fee and use the facilities.

Deb ...... Hubby has an Emirates Skywards Gold Card as he travels thousands of miles a year with them, he gets full access to the first class lounges and facilities but seeing as I will be travelling without him I don't think I will be able to use them. He's going to get in touch with them later and see what he can jack up for me.
If I have to end up paying to use the facilities then so be it ........ nothing quite like a nice shower and few hours shut eye during the journey.

Yay !!!!!!! A few strings pulled and I now have full access to the first class transit lounge - complete with showers, bed/loungers, running buffet and champers on tap. It's gonna be a tough 9 hours but I reckon I can hack it.
Booked through the Flight Centre - spent a long time trawling through internet deals, found the best I could then went into Flight Centre and asked if they could get me a better deal ...... they did !!!!

looking forward to hearing all about how you found the old place after NZ diny. Hope you have a great time, even if it is a little way off yet.

Hi Diny, I'm just being nosy here, and trying to sort out the best way forward with our flights over whether to book Air NZ before 12th March to get more baggage allowed. Have you ever flown Singapore Airlines, or do you always fly Emirates because hubby does? If so, how would you compare them?
Many thanks,
Emily

I have flown both Emirates and Singapore Air several times. Although both are great my vote would always go to Sing Air. They just have that edge - great with kids - very helpful and considerate ...... and the nosh is better too.
However, after saying all that, Emirates is still very good and I have no worries about travelling with them. Hubby uses them for work and so we have a stack of airmiles and benefits - that's why I'm with them this time.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Diny - I guess my gut feeling is to go for Singapore Airlines, providing costs pan out about the same. Given the fact that we have yet to exchange on the house sale, we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves and book Air NZ by 12th March just to try to get more luggage allowance.
Just on the hunt for some really light suitcases now .... :laugh

Just been through Dubai with Emirates
They gave me a hotel (Milenium) for the night plus breakfast and transeport to and from the airport. Phone help desk and they will arrange.
