Hi All,

Have just picked up from someone else's post that baggage allowances are changing from 12th March.

Does this apply to all carriers and all class of ticket? Is it just on the westwards route as going eastwards you always got less baggage per person anyway- ot are they affected too.

Will do some checking further tomorrow.

We expect to travel end October/beginning November but haven't quite decided how, which way and with who (it's enough thinking about the life once you get there, let alone HOW you get there :uhoh ) The 'special' prices for October/November aren't really out yet, so I thought I had pleanty of time!

But maybe I need to hurry - I hate doing things in a rush.

Thanks for any help.

Ria

Bought our tickets from ANZ today to be sure we got the 70lb allowance. Called them first and they told me there's no extra allowance for going over on the PR visa. Their 32kg (70lb) baggage allowance is changing for tickets purchased after March 12 for Economy class only. Here's the text from their site...
For tickets purchased from 12 March 2006
From 26 March 2006, all passengers travelling in Economy or Premium Economy who have been ticketed after 12 March 2006 will be entitled to two pieces with a maximum of 23kg (50lbs) per piece. The allowance for Business Class will remain at a maximum of 32kg (70 lbs) per bag.

Additionally, from 26 March 2006, infants will be entitled to the same baggage allowance as the accompanying passenger, including car seats and strollers, but they will not be entitled to any additional allowances linked to the accompanying passengers frequent flyer tier status.

If connecting to or from a flight on United Airlines, Lufthansa or Air Canada, please note there is a maximum weight limit of 23kg (50lbs) per piece for Economy customers.

Hi,

I contacted ANZ the other day and the change affects any tickets (economy) bought and paid for after the 12th March. We are leaving in October but booked our flights the other day in order to secure that extra baggage allowance!!
