Chicken Legs

We've just arrived in Auckland after the usual stress and trauma of moving from the UK. Like many people on this site, we talked to all the major Shipping companies and chose GB Liners on the strength of the good impression made by the guy giving the quote. They weren't the cheapest but appeared to know what they were doing and gave the impression of being very experienced. A word of warning to anyone intending to use the Bristol branch of GB Liners - they were pretty awful and made the experience of moving even more stressful than it could have been. This is just a personal view and I'm confident others on this forum will have received excellent service from GB Liners and it may be that we just got a "rogue" crew, but I wouldn't recommend anyone use this frim. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Hi Chicken legs (I just love your name BTW)
I'm sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with GB liners. You certainly don't need any added stress at moving time.
Can I ask what made it so awful? It would be helpful to others following to know specifics, IMO.
Hope things perk up for you and that you are enjoying Auckland and your new life here.

Sorry to hear you had a terrible time with GB Liners, from someone who found their service excellent. Kinda makes me sad that I recommend them when I hear such stories.... same with Vanlines, we had great service from them.. twice.. yet have heard horror stories from others.
Perhaps, when we recommend such services, we need to check if they are franchised and which "office" people are using - for GB Liners we used their Brighton office.

Well, we sold the 4x4 yesterday, and I am going to garage sale/ebay and basically give the rest of our stuff away.
Rob said he'd rather go with suitcases than have the hassle of shipping!

Just read your post in horror! We also live in Somerset and have just signed a contract with GB LIners in Bristol! They seemed to know what they were talking about and were quite reasonable! But now I'm worried! If you could be a bit more specific about the problems that would be really helpful!
Also, whereabouts in Somerset were you?
Sorry you've had a stressful time - hopefully things will get easier from now on in!

Good info for anyone living down that way, but detail required.
I guess like anything it is the luck of the draw.....
