I see that there are lots of cafes in Welly that are wireless hotspots. Anyone know if or how much any charge for this service?

I'm thinking I could book a cheaper hotel if I weren't limited to hotels with internet access. I don't need to be online all day. Maybe up to 2 hours.

Thanks!
Jessica

Hi Jess

Go to http://www.citylink.co.nz/ for info about the system and prices. There are lots places that have wifi including near some cheaper accomodatio. I stayed at Downtown Backpackers (http://www.downtownbackpackers.co.nz/) which is across from the rail station which has access so you might even be able to pick up there. They are a bit shabby but very clean and $180NZD a week.

Alternative is an internet cafe - lots of those as well. Mostly $4NZD an hour but you can get memberships at some that give you a break.

We used wifi through Telecom at Starbucks. There is a monthly fee for the Telecom account, I think $4 and then it is $10 per hour for the connection...adds up quickly. Internet cafes are cheaper though not as nice a vibe...

Thanks for the tips! I decided to book into a hostel with free internet access, so I can check and answer work email on their computer any time. Then I'll hit an internet cafe (your links will help with that) when I need to upload files to the company website.

Thanks,
J
