Hi everyone,
the judgment day is soon coming up. I have my interview. I did go through all the interview related posts and noted down all the possible questions. However any additional input from you guys is greately appreciated.
1) I am the main applicant. Would the Case officer be willing to talk to my wife too?
2) I have a step son. Any tips regarding any questions that may be related to kids (my step son is 5 yrs)

Doctor, don't get worried about it, if you did your prep you o.k. It is more a chat than anything else, just be prepared to think about your answers for a second or two before answering, they aren't trying to trip you up. It is just a sort of "have you done your homework and are you sure you really want to go through with this" type of chat. Don't think they want to chat to anyone other than the applicant. Kid related questions I had related to schooling and how I would settle them in to NZ life. As you are married I wouldn't imagine there being any probs.

Good luck to you mate. I have just sent my passports off for the blue stickers today.

Hi there

They only want to speak to the main applicant. Ours lasted about 15 mins so there's not a great deal to say in that time once the pleasantries are out of the way.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Have you read Gil's excellent post on interview questions? http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?p=51692#post51692

As everyone says it really is just a chat. They want to speak to the principal applicant, to check how you will settle, what you will do if you don't, have you thought about schools for your stepson, that kinda thing.

There are no trick questions on the Treaty of Waitangi or the date it was signed etc.

Relax and enjoy it if you can, easier said than done but afterwards you will think, was that it? :clap:clap

I got in a right tizz about the interview but Gil's post covered most of what they asked.
I found it helpfull to have figures writen down in front of me so I could let them know roughly how much we would be going over with, what we thought our weekly cost of living would be, (I took it streight from the calculators and told them that where I got the figure as we haven't been to NZ before), she asked how much we had allowed for rent and if we had an idea of property prices. I had both figures to hand but they know that it is largely a guesstimate.
Then it's the usual stuff as Gil set out .
Im sure it will all go well for you.
