Hello.
Is vodaphone pre pay sim card the only type one can get for NZ in advance of coming?
I am not too keen on vodaphone in UK so wondered if there is another provider in NZ for a pay as you go simcard?
If so do you know how I can get in advance?
If no other provider I have found vodaphone pre pay sim card in UK for about £30 inc delivery (includes NZD$5 credit + NZD$10 more credit if one does some sort of registration).
Anyone know better or cheaper?
Thanks

Hi,
I think there's Telecom NZ.
At first glance, it looks a bit cheaper, but I still have to compare.
Anyway, I don't know whether you can get a simcard in advance.

I'm not sure about phones from the UK, but I could only use Vodafone SIM with my phone from the USA. Vodafone uses GSM, and Telecom uses a different technology. Vodafone and Telecom are the only 2 choices right now, although I heard there is a new company coming soon (but only available in Auckland).

Something else to consider is that it quite a bit more expensive to call Vodaphone to Telecom and vise versa even on a prepaid system. So if theres more than one of you and you both want phones - get the same ones.
Also - are you bringing a phone with you? If you are it wil determine which you use here.

Walked into a voda phone shop and bought a pre pay phone for $79 (£40) with a $10 credit on it. Wifey did the same too, haven’t found it expensive to use, free weekend texts is nice to other vodaphones.
