Hi,
I first joined this forum in November, and never posted, as I was thoroughly discouraged by the fact that so many people received good news so quickly after their interviews. At that time nearly 2 months had elapsed since out interviews.
But today ... good news! Six months and two weeks after our interview, we were advised that our residence application has been "Approved in Principle".
I just thought I'd post our story, as it might make someone in a similar situation feel a little more positive. I think the long delays might have been because we are already living as expats, so this complicated the verification process for NZIS. I tried not to hassle the visa officer too much, but did e-mail her for a follow up after 3 months and 6 months respectively. I got a prompt reply each time.
Now to decide when to move!

Congratulations to you Nikki. Your post encouraged me, because its now been 6 months 2 weeks since we lodged our ITA, and 4m 2w since we were assigned a case officer. We have not yet had an interview, so I was getting a bit depressed thinking there must be some show-stopper problem with our application. :( Maybe there's hope for us yet...
I take it that you had your interview soon after submission of your ITA Nikki? And a question for Paul and Rach - you say it took 7 months end-to-end. Which point are you counting as the start? (submission of ITA, or case officer being assigned).

Hi Steve
Our 7 months was from the initial EOI stage. We lodged the ITA in October 05 and were granted a visa on 10th Jan 06 (a week after the interview). They say the process will take 4 to 6 months from lodging an ITA so the fact that yours is over 6 months would be just cause to ask them where they are up to. I suppose every case is different but there is also the possibility of a mistake. I would call/email them and enquire where they up to and if there are any problems.
You have my sympathies.... its very frustrating not knowing when they will get back to you.
Regards
Paul
