interview done today. Interview went for 40 mts. I answered each question carefully as I was well prepared. Told by CO that PR wont be given, instead WTR may be given--I have to decide if to accept WTR or not.

At least you didn't get the total knock back. You can still go to NZ, albeit with a slightly different set of rules.

Sorry to hear that, did your CO explain why ? Hope that WTR works ok for you, having been there for a year before we would def accept that, but I know its a difficult decision for most people to make.....
Good luck in whatever you decide ;) :nice1

be interested in their reason? if you are willing to post it, plenty of people have gone to NZ on the WTR and done well, it may be an initial let down, but it depends on how much you want to go in the end doesnt it? do you think, sod em for not giving me the whole shebang or ....do you think...I'll show em!
good luck whatever your decision

Kat (and others) said it all.
Hope you'll still come over. :clap:clap
Just think of doing it in a slightly different way.

Hi Doctor, what's your profession ?
Some people will never be granted PR based on their profession due to registration needing to be completed in NZ (things like electricians & plumbers.... I think....could be wrong) so don't take it personally if this is the case.
Lots & lots of peeps go across on WTR visa... look at as more of a formality before PR.

reason given to me for no PR was that my profession involves registration. I remember he told me that WTR is for 2 yrs and it would be converted to PR after working for 3 months in NZ and showing evidence of your employment and registration. Do anyone in this forum knows more about the time frames of WTR? like when to leave and when the 2 yr period starts etc?. I think the CO told me that I would have 3 months to turn in my passport for them to issue WTR (if the decision is successful). I think I did the interview good; the posts in this forum are great. I am still waiting to hear about the NZIS decision. I will post a column again if the decision is successful.

Hi doctor
from your user name I am assuming you are in the medical profession.Based on previous experience,NZIS will not give PR unless you have full registration with the NZ medical council. This depends on where you qualified, whether you have approved specialist qualifications etc, and may take upto 1 yr for full registration.Where are you currently based and from where are you applying?

As I Understand It, you can get PR as soon as you're registered and have been working for a little while - I'm a pharmacist and as we have to have registration we'll probably only get WTR, but not in the "Usual" WTR sense - you don't have to re-apply for PR after 2 years/6 months as it is now - you can get it as soon as you are registered - so it's really just a deferred PR
That is how I see it anyway!
