Hi Guys :)
I am shipping a Harley motorcycle in a container allong with all our posessions.
What do I need to do to get it registered in NZ?
Where do I take it? (going to Dunedin)
What about warrant of fitness or whatever?
What sort os costs are involved?
Anyone recommend a NZ insurance bike friendly insurance company?
Any help or advice much appreciated - container loading 28/03/06 :)
Cheers

Yep got loads of advice, starting with DON'T :laugh:laugh:laugh
Try classic cover in christchurch for insurance, they cover new models too and were the cheapest by a fair way for us. http://www.classiccover.co.nz/
There is also a good bikers forum for advice, I'll look that up for you too.
Come prepared with all your ownership papers, receipts for purchase price and a current valuation may help (in NZ $) Customs will ask for this as you have to sign to say you will pay GST if you sell within 2 years.
Take pics of your bike showing it's condition before it is packed and get them witnessed by the shippers and lodge them with your insurers too (keeping a copy for yourself)
If you want any more info please ask or pm me, particularly on the VTNZ side of things.

There will be a few hurdles to jump over and loops tp jump through - but nothing too complicated... As people here will testify (including myself )
But man - when your bike does show up - is it worth it... !
Good luck with everything
