Hi

Anyone know anyone selling the New Zealand type electrical plug in the UK?

Preferbly mail order - thought I could replace them on some appliances and extention blocks before we go?

Cheers

Wynn

Apparently it wansnt from CPC but direct for the importer. Unfortunatley - my father (bless his little cotton socks) has lost the info - so at the moment I cant help. He says he has the info back in the UK - but it will be may before I can get that to you.

Would that be soon enough?

On the positive side - it can be done - so you should be able to find someone on the net - and they DID post direct to NZ.

Sorry about that

Just out of interest, whereabouts in NZ are you going to be going?
I am off in two weeks as well (well, slightly over)...

I was planning to do the same thing but only once I had arrived, can anyone advise me which are the best retailers in NZ to get them from? Especially in the Welly area?

When we were in Welly a couple of months ago, I needed to find an UK/NZ adapter so I could plug in my laptop.

Found one in a department store in a mall just outside welly. I had spent half an hour looking for one in the Electrical dept just to be told they sell them in the Travel section. If they had not told me that I would not have found it.

I am doing the 1-stage 24hour jetlag special, boy is it going to kill me. :)
Let me know if you get bored of sitting on the beach sipping cocktails out of coconuts, watching the surf roll in. I'll happily speak to your travel company to arrange a swap. :D

Thanks for the tip Rabbit. I have been looking for a hardware/DIY/electrical outlet store on the web and I haven't found anything of any use. Either they don't have websites or I'm looking in the wrong place (wouldn't surprise me). :laugh

I have just noticed you can buy them on EBAY for about a £1-£2 each. The one we bought in NZ cost me about $5 dollars.

Make sure you get a three-pin one (earthed) if that is what you need.

Someone will be able to confirm, but I think the AUS and NZ ones are the same.

We went to Bunnings and bought plugs for all our stuff.

They were about $4.00 each and we regularly bought the whole stock as OH was insisting on replacing them all. We couldn't find anywhere to bulk buy though, so just got them from Bunnings for speed.

We bought mainly side entry though and I think these were a bit more expensive than back entry, which never feels very safe to me.

Wouldn't it be easier to get uk 4+ extensions, a couple of travel plugs to convert to nz, then as you replace the uk stuff as it wears out/breaks down, you'll then have no need for the extensions??

We did this for the motor home in Jan (on the advice from Marie and Dave Parker) Took a couple of travel plugs and a 4 way extension, were able to plug in the mobile chargers, kids game boys, portable Dvd player etc, without any problems!

Marcia -

I cant remember where I saw this - but im sure someone has mentioned that it can invalidate your home adn contents insurance if you do this.

Might be worth checking if thast a worry at all.
