Has anyone used this service (in NZ or UK)?
We're tempted... http://www.dvdunlimited.co.nz

Hi
Yes, we've used them in the UK with no problems and they have a good choice of movies too.
Good to see that we can use them when we get to NZ too.
Hope that helps

I used one of those services in the UK for a while, it is a great idea and they do have a good selection. The obvious catches are that they tie you into paying a monthly fee but unlike the subscription movie channels, you are at their mercy as to how quickly they can turn around a DVD you are interested in... sometimes it can take almost a week to get the next one back once you put yours in the post.
You can also find that yourself repeatedly disappointed when the DVDs you get arrived are scratched and unplayable from so many users. My advice, if you like your movies and want to have access to a big backlog of old films, or you don't want to tie yourself into a 12 month tv subscription - go for a trial, see how you like it. :D

Hello there,
I'm currently in Wellington and thinking of subscribing to one of these. I used Screen Select in the UK who were pretty good.
I found this site which covers online DVD rental in NZ: www.dvdrr.com
If you open the main page and then select the AUS option in the top right hand corner it will show you the current suppliers in Aus and NZ. It shows you the subscription options and user feedback which should be pretty helpful. It seems that if you live outside of Auckland then delivery times could be rather slow. The current NZ options seem to be DVD Unlimited, Fatso NZ, and Movie Shack NZ.
I hope this helps.
Ceers,
Ian.

Hi Moorf,
The in-laws used them in the UK, they were really happy with them. In their case it was just convenient. I thought it was a good idea too, since the fines tend to cost me more than the rental when I forget to take the DVD’s back (frequently!)
The only problem they had was when they posted back the wrong DVD, they put one of their (rather expensive) DVD’s in the rental box and posted it off. They didn’t get their DVD back but then again neither did the company.
I’m not sure how but they did managed to do this twice :laugh

I use Fatso.co.nz and have done so for the last few years. Have had no problems. The one thing that I like is you don't have to rush and get them back.
I pay $39 (I think) for 3 movies (My choice). In a month I could watch quite a few but then sometimes maybe just the 3 in a month.

I've now used the free trial and have been really pleased with the service to date - paying $38 for 3 DVD's at any one time/month (dvdunlimited.co.nz) - cheers for all your replies and info folks... :nice1
