Hi All :cool

Hope everyone is doing well. This place is pretty busy since the NZIS saw fit to lower the SMC points score to a reasonable number! :nice1

I’ve written a few articles about our move from the U.S. to New Zealand for Escape Artist Magazine that some of you may have seen. I've included some pictures of us, our home, etc. Here are the links to the magazine’s website if you haven't seen them yet…

1st article, “We Made It!”:

http://www.escapeartist.com/efam/61/Moving_To_New_Zealand.html

2nd article, “Escaping to New Zealand”:

http://www.escapeartist.com/efam/62/Living_New_Zealand.html

3rd article, “The Magic of New Zealand”:

http://www.escapeartist.com/efam/63/Life_In_New_Zealand_Adams.html

I'll be writing more in the future...maybe even a book one day! :hopeso They are written for Americans that are thinking about moving here. I've been amazed at the response they've gotten...over 150 e-mails and counting! There’s really nothing new that the brilliant people here don’t know already, but I hope you enjoy them. There are some other good stories about NZ on the site as well, particularly some by Candy Green. And of course there’s a link back to this forum for people that are a little more interested in the details of how easy and how much fun it is to move here! :eek

P.S. If you'd like to e-mail me, just post on this thread or send a P.M. to me here instead of using the link on the magazine's site...that way you'll be first in the que! :laugh

Enjoy! :cheers

Wow, Rich, another great write up by you! We really needed that shot in the arm to remind ourselves about the reasons we are undertaking this move, been a little blue lately, but we're back on track. Thank you for sharing the pictures too! Now if the continuous rain in the lower North Island would just let up a bit, we too will be happy to get on with Spring! My husband has been there a month now, and only had ONE day with no rain! But we are still excited. Thanks again for all the great info, you da man!! :cool

Hi All :cool

Thanks for the kind words...glad you enjoyed them! Although it's time consuming I really have a great time writing them. Just glad someone's getting something out of them. I'm busy penning another this week...should be out mid-November or so. :hopeso

Hi Rich

I have just joined this forum. I have also just read your articles - they were really great. Your house looks fantastic and the view ......... beats my street outlook!

Look forward to the next instalment.

Hi, Rich,

My apologies for jumping onboard so late to add my gratitude and admiration over the articles you wrote. They were fantastic, and one of the first resources to which I'd refer anyone thinking of moving over. You do have a gift!!

Also really enjoyed the photos.. you both look so relaxed and happy! And isn't that really the best reason to live somewhere, even if your lawnmower costs as much as a NASA launch? Actually, that's me, green with envy!!

We've been dealing with one fun thing after another, first no offers on the house and now more than we know what to do with.. of course, the one we accepted seems to be disintigrating before our eyes because the woman who is buying is also getting a divorce, and those two things don't seem to go together very well!! Never mind; there's always the backup... but enough of all that. Just wanted to add my kudos for your terrific and informative articles, and it's good to see you posting again, too!!

All the best, Rae

Hi Rae and Wiggles (now that is a cool name!) :cool

Great to hear from you and thank you for the kind words! You're making me blush!

I hope I haven't painted a picture of perfection living in NZ, because it's certainly not perfect here. I could complain about a lot of things...but you're right, there are some really good reasons to be here and we still think they far outweigh the not-so-wonderful ones. :yes

Welcome Wiggles...still makes me smile ;) There are a lot of terrific people here that can really help you with your decisions and dreams.

Glad you're (finally) able to sell Rae...know what it's like to sit on something just itching to get away. Won't be long now huh? :clap

Well, the neighbors have invited us over for some wine (wish it were V. Sattui or another Napa variety, but the local stuff ain't half bad! :laugh )and we're bringing the chocolate...so musn't muck around...woo hoo!

Hi rich

Thanks for the welcome. Glad my name brings on a smile :laugh I lived in AKL for a few years, and know what to expect when we return. I am looking forward to it - I think I would even more so if I lived in your house, with your view, with your neighbours, drinking wine ......... oops better stop :uhoh

No really, your articles are superb and can't wait for the next installment.

Cheers Wiggles
