Hi All.
I don't know if this is the right place to put this thread, but I'm sure someone will move it if necessary.
I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you over in NZ who take the time and trouble to put your opinions, views, thoughts and in some instances bared your souls in an attempt to answer some questions that have been raised on this forum.
In all honesty, it sometimes amazes me that you all have the patience to keep up the good work and I want you to know that I personally, am grateful for all your efforts and also of your tolerance to us uninitiated (in NZ) forumites.
We all know that every persons life experiences are different and hold different values, but nevertheless, you keep trying to answer all our questions in a way in which we can all benefit.
Of course there are going to be differences of opinion - what a dull place this world would be if we all were the same - but, in my opinion, that's what this forum is all about - airing your views and discussing differences of opinion in a civilised manner.
I only hope that one day, I too can do a little to help and in turn, return all the help and advice that has been offered to me.
Thanks to you all,
Julie.

I just want to second what Julie said.
I really don't know what I would have done if I hadn't have found this site, I would probably still be wondering what an EOI was... :D
Thanks everyone!

You're very welcome, Zardell.
We were saying at the Taupo meet last week that this forum is extremely high quality, friendly and consistent. I often get a lovely sense that forum folks -- including the senior "big hitters" -- stay on here because of its overwhelmingly good nature.
It really is a prime example of the kind of interactive humane-ness and fun that 'Web evangelists such as Douglas Adams had in mind, I reckon.
We add our thanks to yours, Zardell. Cheers so much, everyone! :clap

Ditto to what Julie said: huge thanks to all forumites in NZ. I simply cannot begin to imagine what emigration must have been like 30,40 years ago. Stepping into a huge unknown, I would imagine. You guys over there help us step into much more of a known quantity (warts and all), so thank you.
Also, a big thank you to all forumites based outside NZ - it's rare to find such support so readily and easily provided from people who aren't in the close friend or family circle these days, so another big thank you to this wonderful group!

It is a wonderful forum - so many friends made and good advice given. It says something for the nature of the people involved that they stay on, keeping in touch and giving out advice and the benefit of their experience to all the wannabes and hopefuls still stuck in emigration limbo. I know I value it very highly.
Big thanks to all.

I used to belong to other forums years before I joined this one. They were so depressive about NZ no constructive advice people who dodn't like it slagged it off. I think that's why it took 7 years to get here 3 were put off by other forum and also other things.
I think the nature of the people on this forum are supportive but objective in their advice which is the most helpful one can be.
It certainly has helped me on my journey to a new life.

I was only just the other day thinking of posting something similar! Having just submitted my ITA...6 days after receiving it....I realised I could only be so organised and efficient (not natural qualities of mine) because I'd read so much on this forum about what I needed, when, and how to get it.
I've also learnt so much about the kind of things that bring people out to NZ, what takes some people back to their home country, the kind of things that make it work and the things that leave many new residents lost in the dark. Most of the latter are entirely normal I've found....it's not just me!!!!
I've had endless questions answered here, and i'm starting to answer some of other people's now (at last!! :-) and every answer I've got here has put my mind at rest (and my hubby's, who was forever worrying about his tools getting nicked when they are shipped over...but who worries no more!)
A big thank you to all for informative, honest and some very humourous posts!
