I noticed from the 'Visas for Oz', thread that a few of you are heading that way soon.
We're hopefully heading to Sydney for the Easter weekend, and I wondered if anyone, who had been there, had any ideas of what we can do that is toddler friendly?
Also any suggestions for hotels - central, child friendly, pool would be a bonus?
Finally, who have you all been booking with? Have you booked online or used local travel agents?
Cheers

Places to visit - Turanga (sp?) Zoo, up the Centrepoint Tower for a great view of Sydney, take a boat out to somewhere like Manly and sit on the Beach (also very close to good shops, cafes and eateries). Don't bother with Bondi with kids - it's got nothing for them.

Hi - I am heading to Sydney for along weekend soon. Have been twice before and lived on Bondi beach for 3 months back in 1990. I would strongly suggest that you look at apartments if you are travelling there with kids. Do a search on the internet ( just put in Sydney, Australia apartments) or local travel agents usually have brochures on places. If you are willing to wait til last minute, ie 2 weeks before. looks like you can get some really good deals.
Would agree with hubby that the zoo is great and the kids will ove taking the ferry over to it. There is also the aqaurium ( but when you've seen one you've seen them all).

I'm resurrecting this thread as I have exactly the same questions as Tia - we're heading to Sydney for 5 days at the end of May with a 3 year old in tow. Can anyone recommend any particular hotels/apartments/etc?
We're thinking of a day trip into the Blue Mountains, has anyone been there?
thanks

A year and a half ago we stayed in some apartments in Wollomalloo (sp?) which is handy for the harbour and botanical gardens. We were there with a 4yo and a baby and our 4yo had a blast! Loved the botanical gardens and the fruit bats, loved the aquarium, the zoo, the trip around the harbour and all the boats he could climb all over - near the aquarium they have a submarine, a destroyer and an old sailing ship with a very friendly smelly dog. Only had 4 days there as we were on our way to Tas, but we had a great time. We booked the apartment through expedia, sorry but can't remember which one it was.
Went to the Blue Mountains about 15 years ago so I don't feel qualified to comment - bet it's changed a bit since then! We stayed in a fab old BnB and I kept getting bounced out of bed as my wife had hiccups.......
Cheers
