Just need a little help from people out there.

My wife is a Malaysian while I am Singaporean and both of us have lived in Singapore for the past 15 years.

I understand that once you have obtained your ITA, there is a medical and police checks to fill up. In this case , do my wife need a medical and police cert in Malaysia where she was born and still a citizen or in Singapore, a country she has lived in the past 15 years?
.

Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Voth, check out the
NZIS web site they have loads of info on Police checks. I am pretty certain that if she has resided in Singapore for 15 years then she only need a police check from then, but like I said please check.

I believe you just get cert. from the country of residence at the moment. However, as Jo B said, you should check again.

Hi voth,

It should be from all the countries , current as well as other countries where you lived more than 12 months over the past 10 years (in your wife's case Singapore). Police Certificate should be no more than 6 months old at the time that you submit your application.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Mallik

PS: I lived in Singapore for couple of years, so NZIS asked me to get PC from there too!!

I agree wih Mallik - you only have to supply a police cert for countries you have lived in over the last 10 years.

Medicals can be done at any of the NZIS panel doctors - just choose which one is the most convenient for you.

Thefore if I have left my country for 10 years or more and live in other country, then I just get the police certificate from the current place without worrying getting the PC from my country of origin then? am I right?

That's how I understand it to be. They seem to want to know about just the last 10 years.

Your wife will need police certificates from both countries, irrespective of the ten year window. My wife had to get one from Norway, despite leaving Norway when she was four years old. It wasn't lost on me that you can't be prosecuted for anything at the age of four (!) but we still had to get it. Don't waste valuable time, apply for both. Hope this helps, regards.

Hi

I am assuming that your wife will be submitting a Malaysian passport
with your documents once you get your ITA.

In this case, she will need police reports from both Singapore and also Malaysia . ( or from any country where you have stayed for a total duration of more than 12 months - even if your stay was broken by one or more journeys)

I suggest that you dont get your medicals done untill you have the rest of the documents ready, as the medicals are only valid for 3 months.

good luck and all the very best.

Cheers

Abdul
