Regarding NZQA. I've had a preliminary result as level 5 which was submitted online. At the next stage do you then send out your original documents to NZQA.
Would this include my OH as she is gaining me an extra 10 points?
How do they assess them?
Do they contact the original institute or in my case BTEC?
The reson being, I've been trying to get hold of another copy of the original. My college doesn't keep records going back that far (20 years) and BTEC only keeps their records on microfiche and after several months I'm getting nowhere.

Hello River11
If you haven't already submitted your ITA you will can include the online pre-assessment with that, and pending your result you could be awarded Approval in Principle (which we were) and given a length of time (in our case 6 months) to get the original docs assessed by the NZQA.
Or, you could get your quals assessed by the NZQA first and submit all together.
They do need to see the original documents and will go back to the awarding body for verification. I don't know how they will view it not being able to get original docs, but the awarding body should be able to verify your qualification.
If you are claiming the additional 10 points you will also need to submit your wifes original paperwork.
I know that the likes of NVQ's are assessed at a level higher than the UK, as the NZ scale is different to the UK's, but I don't know about BTEC's
We looked on the NZQA website and found the nearest NZ qualification and printed a copy for them as a guideline so they could see what it was we were comparing it to - which they agreed.
Good luck in dealing with the NZQA.

Yessss... success, recieved the confirmation that I exist and have a BTEC diploma in graphic design, it was worth hassling them. It's taken me about 1 year on and off to get this... next full assesment from NZQA.
This is only the 1st step and proved difficult, the next 2 years will be even more interesting.
